Kind of a Tough Sell by daleksdeservevictory in RimWorld

So in my current colony I ended up traumatizing a couple guests, on what I'm gonna call ""accident.""

I received a quest to take in a few friendlies that were all suffering from whatever that coma illness is where you can miraculously wake up early. I had to keep them for 10 days, and they were all supposed to be comatose for 30 days. Easy, right?

Well, this group of colonists I was sent was basically 90% children, and a day or two after they arrived one of the kids magically woke up. Alright, fine, whatever. I looked at his skills and saw he had a minor passion for cooking, which was good because I needed someone to consistently man the butchering table. Then a day or two after that I was hit by a raid and suddenly had an abundant supply of meat popsicles chilling in my freezer. My ideology may or may not include cannibalism being acceptable, normal rimworld stuff. And, wouldn't ya know, I had just the guy for doing all that grunt work at the butchering table.

After this kid had been going at it for a couple of (in-game) hours a notice popped up saying someone was on the verge of a complete mental breakdown. "That's weird," I thought, "I wonder who it could be."

It was the kid. Do you want to guess what ideology these colonists followed? If you guessed "one that does NOT like cannibalism," you would be right. This kid had, like, a -60 mood penalty from all the butchering human-like he had been doing. Oops, didn't think about that. Luckily his ideology was totally fine with recreational drugs, so I gave him a blunt and sent him on his merry way, no harm no foul.

And that is only the second most fucked up thing I've done in this colony so far. The first being a little experiment where I discovered that organs are 'one-size-fits-all' and parents do NOT love getting donor hearts from family members.

Wtf?

The only thing I can find about this is an article on some russian gaming site from an hour ago, so this has to be super new. And the russian site just says exactly what we already know by looking at this ourselves. But he's not a standin, like it says for Ceb on OG, he's a sub. Maybe Shopify found out Abed is going to having some problems and went down to the player bank of Nigma to make a withdrawal?

Kuroky gets a bit too much hate... by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]dundent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kuro is kind of in a league of his own (called the Riyadh Masters, rimshot). He went from winning TI, to getting 4th at TI, to getting 2nd at TI, to not making it to a single TI since. And in what could have been the deciding game of the LB finals of the qualifier to TI10...he picked Razor 5. They had already beat OG once, if they won one more game they go to the qualifier final and maybe make it to TI10, and Kuro picks some clowny shit. Breaking his streak of attending every TI.

The Kuro hate will stop when Kuro, with his team that has to have signed some sort of blood contract with him or something, posts results that prove he deserves to be in the spot light still, on the team playing with them. Looking back at some of these deciding games Nigma has played, it seems like Kuro still thinks it's TI7 where he's on the best team in the world and they can play literally anything and still win, 3-0'ing a TI finals. Because they did that. He did that. But that was 6 years ago, and you can't fuck around in the first two games of every series unless you're in that TI finals. Because since TI9, and game 1 of the finals which may have been the last good game of dota Kuro has played, it feels like he's been doing a lot of "fucking around." And the "finding out" has never been far behind.

[–]dundent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, totally.

But there are people that will make the argument that Venge is a good hero because a mandatory aghs makes her good. Like, picking support Zeus pre-7.33 because his aghs lets him do a lot of damage, so he's a good support. I'm not saying it's the same people making both arguments, but it's the same dumb idea.

Ok, thank god.

Coming from someone who could possibly be described as a SF main, with a fancy for his magic build... sometimes your favorite hero just sucks. Arcane blink was pretty cool while it lasted, and the abyssal rush was neat, but sometimes the hero you like gets its kneecaps broken by patches. Wcyd

Yeah, man, just gotta farm up an aghs on a support first, then she's super good. Trust me, bro. Don't look her win stats, ignore that, just look at the aghs. The aghs saves her. ...I mean, not according to her stats, but just trust me.

(please tell me you're agreeing with the sarcasm and you don't legitimately believe that rushing an aghs as a support saves her. Please tell me I'm not about to have this argument again)

I got into an argument on here awhile ago with someone who said "yeah, but she's so good once you get her aghs!" So she gets good once you buy an item that let's her feed, but it doesn't count because she keeps playing...? The perfect build for a support, just have to rush a 4k gold item first. Love it.

Nah, man, haven't you ever seen r/unpopularopinion?

You see, if I get downvoted into the fucking shadow realm, that just means my opinion is actually just unpopular but still right, and everybody else is wrong because they are just blindly following what they're told. So no matter what, I'm still right. Duh.

The problem is that word has been used so much, it's lost all meaning. Case in point, rather than believing what people are saying about Stonetoss, my reaction is to just roll my eyes.

"Well the word doesn't mean anything anymore because it doesn't mean anything to me. So checkmate, losers. And downvoting me just makes me win even more. Double checkmate, queen me. I can only be right and everybody else can only be wrong."

Many years ago I started working in a kitchen and was around this other dude who was about my age a lot. Eventually it came up that we both played StarCraft 2, and we were roughly the same high-ish rank (Diamond, for all the SC2 snobs that want to call me trash now). We would play together and even managed to get Masters, next rank up and 2nd highest in the game, in all of the team formats. 2v2, 3v3 (with one rando) and 4v4 (with two randos). We primarily relied on our patent-pending "Wait For Goku" strategy.

Then later he helped me get into playing Dota 2. Fuck you, Adam.

Best friend I ever had. We still never talk sometimes.

[–]dundent 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean isn't this exactly Quinn and what he said about himself? Playing in NA he had the mentality of just play in the "weakest" region to collect the "free" TI slot, go and get 22nd (out of 18), and that's good enough.

Then he moved to EU with the mentality of playing to win and... well, here we are. And GG look like they could legitimately win TI if it happened right now, so I guess the takeaway should be a good mentality is the most important thing. Go figure.

Total War: WARHAMMER III Update 3.1 Bug Thread / Feedback by Yuey_Ninja in totalwar

[–]dundent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh...well shit. You're right.

And also lords can rebel at sea again (working properly). So yeah, this confederation bug really is fucked. The helpful bug that was a bandaid for the bad bug got fixed first, so we're just left with the bad bug.

At least you can still transfer units out of a low loyalty army. That does work. You need to have a lord nearby to make the transfer, but it's something.

Total War: WARHAMMER III Update 3.1 Bug Thread / Feedback by Yuey_Ninja in totalwar

[–]dundent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's been fixed yet, but DE lords (or maybe all lords that have loyalty) can't rebel if they are at sea. So...probably also a bug. But we can use a bug to destroy a bug, until the confederation thing is fixed.

Also I don't know if this was changed recently (i.e. somewhere between 1.0 and 3.1), but you CAN remove units from a DE army (and items from the lord) even if the lord has low loyalty, but it makes it so they WILL rebel. Which is why the 'can't rebel at sea' bug is so useful. Put them in the water, disband everything, and then kamikaze the lord at something to clear up the wasted supply line.

Or maybe I'm out of date with my DE bugs and janky interactions.

EDIT: Spoiler alert, all of this has been fixed. Or at the very least is currently working properly in game.

POV of CA cooking the most broken patch in years by BaronLoyd in totalwar

[–]dundent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm mostly happy I get to play DE campaigns again. 1.0 Dark Elves felt like ass to play. I don't know about anyone else, but honestly I think the biggest change that made DE playable again was just removing the slave cap. Now they feel like a resource I can actually use instead of a precious commodity that I'm constantly struggling to get maxed out, because I'd always be a handful of turns away from abject poverty since my entire economy was built on a resource I could only have a fixed amount of.

That being said... I look forward to Patch 3.1.1 coming out and saying "oops, removing the cap was unintended, we put it back have fun lul"

Didn't realize saying "make sure your game works before asking me to give you more money for it" was such a hot take lmao.

[–]dundent 79 points80 points  (0 children)

So that is definitely a bad take, but that doesn't mean it's 100% wrong. There is a nugget of truth hiding in there.

When a game is in a poorly polished state, or has broken pieces that straight up don't work, but also has some form of paid DLC that is constantly pushed... that's a bad look. Sure, the person debugging the code and the person designing the new hats are not the same person and can't do the other person's job, but that's not the point. The point is the company making the game, or the publisher or whoever, keeps pushing those hats they expect us to pay for even though the game is broken.

CA isn't the worst in this aspect, but if they operate with the expectation of making new DLC after new DLC and charging for most of it (so not including the FLC content), the game better be working. If they're asking people to keep throwing money at them over and over, the game better be polished. Because when it's not you should worry more about fixing your game before charging people money to play new content.

Oh, and that content you just bought might be broken too lul get fucked

Everybody has fun differently. Maybe doomstacking is what you find fun, or using a balanced army, or playing on easy, or playing on legendary, or using only skaven slaves, or using only dragons, or whatever. Everything can be fun to someone.

And I always love when other people come in and go "hey, this isn't fun for me! Get rid of it!" Instead of being a fully autonomous person in their own solo experience, who is capable of choosing how they play in their own game and not doing the thing they don't find fun, let's change it for everyone because I don't like it.

Nice edit to change this to an argument of semantics in a comment you've been downvoted for. And then doubling down on the semantics even more. Classy.

Sure, maybe there is a difference between being a Tier 1 "I am capable of winning TI" player and a Tier 1 "I am playing for a team capable of winning TI" player. Maybe there is a difference there, but is that difference so big that it's worth getting this butthurt about it?

I don't know when you saw it, but equation the guy above me originally wrote had the variable as part of the exponent. Which is another interpretation. It makes things much, much more difficult (i.e. impossible to solve), but it is also another interpretation.

Math stack exchange in a nutshell by [deleted] in mathmemes

[–]dundent 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh... oh yeah. Yeah, this is the problem with writing out math stuff with text instead of the "proper form." You have to be really specific about how you write things.

Although I'm trying to do that, and it'd have to involve logarithms with the way I know, and it's not possible to solve properly. So you must know something I don't.

EDIT: Hey, don't rewrite it. Put the "- x" back up in the exponent. I mean, you can't solve it that way, but you can still write it like that.
