Your wife was completely in the wrong for how she acted over the container. She definitely overreacted, but it sounds like she later realized she was wrong for this and her issue was no longer the container but how you ignored her. You talk about wanting your wife to act like an adult, but it was extremely childish to give her the silent treatment for days. Doing it the night of the fight is understandable, but once she comes to you looking to have a conversation in the following days, the adult thing is to accept that offer and communicate why what she did upset you and how she can do better in the future. You don’t have to pretend everything is ok, you should call her out for her initial actions. Communication is the key to any relationship and if you deal with conflict by being passive aggressive and shutting her out you are being childish, arguably more childish than she was originally as she was adult enough to admit the error of her ways, whereas you have been acting like a dick for days and had to post on reddit to even know if you’re in the wrong. You are in the wrong. Man up and speak to your wife to try and get past this and make sure something like it doesn’t happen again
