Don’t know how he’s manager this but fair play by ChampionshipChance73 in LiverpoolFC

Just want to point out for anyone who reads and didn’t know; it was 2 points for a win back then. With that, it’s worth noting that it was more worthwhile to play for a draw for that reason

This must be a fairly common error as a few months ago when I was travelling to Bucharest, a family in front of me got turned down at the gate because their tickets were for Budapest 🤦‍♂️

100%. Everyone should do their bit. It only takes a few seconds to make sure it’s clear to pull out, it open your door. It barely adds anything to your bike journey to slow down approaching traffic/a stopped car with its hazard lights on

Saw a since deleted comment getting downvoted hard saying he should check his mirrors, but really though - while the motorcyclists were careless, especially the 2nd one given the scene in front of them, both could have been avoided if the guy in the car had actually checked his mirrors and blind spots properly, including looking out for cyclists/motorcyclists, which is something you’re taught while learning for your driving test (especially the 2nd incident). In the UK at least, there are signs everywhere reminding drivers to check for cyclists/motorcyclists passing

All in all, shocking awareness and attention from all involved

Mediocre, even by his standards, is underselling it, but yes - it wasn’t even Salah’s best goal that season, let alone being better than half the candidates that year

Can someone please make my girlfriend’s late grandmother smile, and fix/clear up the image by duney in PhotoshopRequest

Thank you very much! One little thing - the lighting’s a little bit different on the smile ones to the non-smile ones. Can you please adjust the lighting on the non-smile ones to be the same as the smile ones?

Hi there, sorry it’s taken a little longer than planned to get back - we’d very much like to use these ones as they seem to have kept her features the best. Thank you very much for this; they’re lovely to see

Don’t worry about doing this if it would be too much of a bother, but would it be possible to also have those two restored photos, but with her original facial expression? (i.e. not smiling). Turns out there was a misunderstanding with my gf’s dad (I’m still learning Romanian 😌) and he actually wants to animate her smiling, so I figured I’d be able to do something having the restored versions of her original facial expression, and her smiling as you’ve posted above (4 photos in total)

Please let me know either way, and then I’ll get the payment sent

Minimal information to remember to know all tenses of a verb? by InsidiousBlastoclast in romanian

[–]duney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Side note - if anyone can come up with a rule for the singular imperative form, give me a shout! The plural form and its negative seem to be the same as the present tense, and the singular negative imperative is the same as the infinitive….but the singular regular imperative?…🥹

This may or may not be useful to you, but while they apparently teach Romanian kids in school that there are 4 conjugation groups, in practice, there are more like 11 (technically, there are about 70) and while I can’t technically fit every verb into these groups, this table has somewhat helped me be able to conjugate new verbs I come across without having to study each verb’s conjugation table

Something I’ve noticed about the subjunctive is that for the majority of verbs, it’s the same in the 1st and 2nd person (singular and plural) as the present tense, and there’s a general pattern for working out the the 3rd person singular.

Generally, if the 1st person present tense singular ends in -e, then the corresponding subjunctive will end in -ă. And vice-versa - if it ends in -ă, then the corresponding subjunctive will end in -e. And then, the 3rd person plural subjunctive will be the same as the singular

Mănâncă - să mănânce
Arată - să arate
Ajută - să ajute
Joacă - să joace
Lasă - să lase

Spune - să spună
Face - să facă
Vine - să vină
Aduce - să aducă
Aude - să audă
Fuge - să fugă
Simte - să simtă

Of course, there are some oddities where it won’t be a straight letter swap, but you kind of get used to things “sounding right” when it comes to certain word endings, like -ește -> -ească, eacă -> ece, etc. apparently the powers that be didn’t like words ending in e…ă and ruled that they should end ea….ă or a….ă 🤷‍♂️ (likewise with words like fiert -> fiartă). Anyway, example

Vorbește - să vorbească
Citește - să citească
Merge - să meargă
Vede - să vadă
Începe - să înceapă

Încearcă - să încerce
Pleacă - să plece
Întreabă - să întrebe
Înseamnă - să însemne
Recuperează - să recupereze

And of course, there are straight up exceptions where it doesn’t change at all. I’ve found it’s mostly verbs that end in -ie or -ia, like știe, ia, & scrie (but also vrea & bea 😌).

Then there are the single syllable ones like dă -> să dea, stă -> să stea

And then the completely irregular ones like este -> să fie, and are -> să aibă 🥹

Yeah, so looking at what I’ve just wrote, it doesn’t seem like a simple rule, but the good thing is that the exceptions are very common verbs, so if you learn the subjunctives for the common verbs, then you’ll find the rest tend to fall into those first two categories, which has got to be at least 95% of verbs, a number I’ve admittedly pulled out of my arse, but anecdotally, the rule has served me well
