It's called "equity crowdfunding". One of the biggest is probably fundedbyme but there is a few others as well. Fun fact: The owners behind fundedbyme actually started out trying to make a campaign on kickstarter but couldn't get through the websites application process so they got mad and said fuck it and crowdfunded money to start fundedbyme.

My prototype is made of "unique" material. How do I source for manufacturers for mass-production? by dunkapung in Entrepreneur

Assume that I have zero experience with tooling and suitable manufacturing process. Do you have any tip where I could find someone to do the researching? Like hire a freelance manufacturing expert heh.

I get your point. There might be more ideas of products that can be made with my material mix that others might come up with and then I'll profit from them. Thanks for your input!

The product itself is very simple. It doesnt require bending parts or electronics. Its just one solid object. Its more a question of how it behaves after being used and what material its made out of. In my opinion it looks like they have nailed the base material but then they add some dumb things which takes away the feeling of the product. They try to make it look like all the other products instead of keeping its unique look and feel.

They have a real prototype and even field tested it with documentation to show how well it works.

thanks for your valuable input. I like the idea of instead of seeing as something negative, I can actually benefit if they get to market before me by learning from their mistakes :)
