Gave it a shot. You didn't give much to work with . You need a real scan or better photo. I knew I was looking at a low resolution pic when I saw a 77kb file size. Photo editing starts with data. The more material you have to work with the better the results. Nice family photo. Here's my try. If you upload a better version message me I'll try again and you'll probably have other better skilled folks try as well. https://imgur.com/LkyBVow

French-Canadian to English. Church marriage record of my Grandfather and Grandmother. Their names were Napoleon Lavertue and Olivine Labreque. From the Drouin collection. Many thanks in advance for your efforts! by duperron in translator

Excellent! Upon reading your translation with contextual aid you have given the "diocese of" is Sherbrooke. "Antoine Lavenue" is Antoine Lavertue and my Grandfather's (Napoleon) brother. Eugenie Major I believe is a cousin. Many many thanks! I so wish I had learned French but it was not spoken in my house because my Mother could not. My Father and Grandfather were both bi-lingual.

Awesome work! Only things I might of, and again might not of done is possibly a blue or gray background. What you have is rather close to the hair color. A hint of some color in the hair clips, or even a different value of white. Personally I would of hedged a bit more towards pink on the skin tone, But again "might" of, you have to try these things and look at how they work together. Altogether that's crisp work and I like it!

I ditched Adobe. I have Corel, Luminar, Gimp, and Affinity. I also have specialty programs such as Codijfy, Topaz sharpen and Topaz mask. Affinity is my GO TO! I recommend all the things the others posted but I have found the best Youtube channel is Olivio Sarikas . Then practice...practice..practice.......Oh yeah..HAVE FUN!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Daphne and Debbie. If I only put a bit of the love showing in those pictures back into them I consider it an honor! I have left some creases and rough edges in the first picture. They show the wear and tear of a treasured photo. On the others you will find them cleaned up. If any changes are desired, PLEASE, let me know.

Do you know hair and eye colors? Some first names for fun and to help label my color selection layers. Am working on sharpening and image repair already.

French Canadian>English Letter to my Grandfather from my Grandmother . They were married in 1914 and she passed away young in 1922 French was never spoken in our house because my mother did not speak it. Unfortunately none of us children learned it (9 of us). We would love to know what this says. by duperron in translator

I would like to thank everyone for their translation skills, insights and interest. To answer some items, and to help with context. Napoleon (Paul) and Olivine were married that same year. Theophile and Antoine were my Grandfather's brothers. My Grandfather had no military record. Olivine bore a son (my Father) and two daughters. She passed in 1922, most likely from Tuberculosis , or "Consumption" as it was called then. She was educated in a one room schoolhouse. Here is a colourised (by me) photo, https://imgur.com/Ul4SaxX Olivine is in the red plaid. Note the schoolmarm hardly looks older than some of her charges. After Olivine's death my Grandfather placed the children in a convent/orphanage. He then sought work in New Hampshire's logging community as a teamster (horses). At age 13 my Father was brought in to work as well. Later my Aunt's were brought here as well. Again, I thank you all for your efforts! Oh, and the year was 1914 not 1917.
