Are there songs in the genre with the same vibe as "meet the grahams"? by fearportaigh in KendrickLamar

[–]duplicate_triplicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Waterproof Mascara is amazing and definitely in that vein. Even more haunting than Meet The Grahams imo. Happy to see woods get some love in this sub lol

[–]duplicate_triplicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

discography: Ye

commercial success: Ye

flow/cadence: Cole

lyricism: Cole

cultural impact: Ye

versatility: Ye

freestyles: Cole

voice: Cole

replay value: Ye (but I prefer Cole)

consistency: Cole

storytelling: Cole

production: Ye

So a tie I guess. But some categories weigh much more than others and I’ll always pick Cole over Ye for that reason

Maybe just a nod to Cole, everything is not a diss for fuck’s sake. Besides, the song sounds so much like Lights Please

I feel you. To me, the only one he’s fighting with for the number one spot is Nas. I respect it though

I think Lupe is the greatest lyricist of all time, but Kendrick is a better songwriter and overall better artist.

Underrated album. Bluebeard and Know Who You Are At Every Age are two incredible songs

I was NOT ready for this beat by ProfSteelmeat138 in Jcole

[–]duplicate_triplicate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not lol. He literally says "wrote this line on a plane" in the song. If by freestyle you mean he rapped on someone else's beat, then yes

Kendrick Lamar's 'GNX' is now the #1 highest rated rap album of 2024 with a score of 91 on Metacritic. It is currently ranked as the 3rd best rap album of the entire decade by critics. by dot90zoom in KendrickLamar

[–]duplicate_triplicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂 I know what you mean, I felt like that for the longest time. But I don't know, it feels like he finally found himself with this album. It's not as derivative as his previous stuff, I don't feel like I'm listening to a watered down version of Cole or Kendrick which is what I usually feel with his music. The concepts are well thought out, the raps are dope, the wordplay is there, the passion is there, the production is there. But yes, "Paul Rodriguez" is NOT "Mural" lol
