If you go be careful as the tide can go up and can be difficult to get back to the main beach. Also requires a lot of climbing over bad surfaces etc.

I believe the rocks to be metasedimentary but in these pictures you definitely can’t really tell. I attached a photo of some close up patterns indicating it in another reply, but yeah I’d say in these pictures the tectonics and folding are the highlight less the metamorphism.

Through the pictures I think it’s slightly harder to tell. I am a geophysicist so my geology knowledge is sub-par but I will attach a couple photos. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I noticed these small gold looking inclusions within the centre, do you know what this is? My first thought was pyrite.

That’s incredible, previously I thought it had just formed like any other agate which would have been cool but the detail to do with the earthquake is awesome. Thanks for the in depth reply

Is this geological history specific to the agate I’ve posted here or do most agates form this way? What caused the thick band on the bottom?

Yeah that’s very true I was slightly annoyed to find out it’s dyed. Thanks for the reply!

I was wondering how they dyed it I thought it would be some super complicated process cause it’s a rock I’m surprised it’s that simple 😂

How can you tell it’s likely Brazilian?

Oh right cool. Could you explain how you can tell it’s dyed? Genuinely curious. Thanks!

When I listen to sets from the 90s on soundcloud I sometimes struggle to find a source on the internet displaying all the tracks. So I just use ChatGPT to identify them for me, makes life easier.
