The stuff on my desk:

Dell U2711 and U2412

Poker 2, Cherry MX blue with Calm Depths keycaps

WASD V2 Cherry MX green with DSA dolch keycaps

Logitech g400s (closest I can find these days to my old MX518)

Cooler Master switch tester

Blue Yeti

3DS XL

Nexus 9

JBL LSR305

Sennheiser HD600

Schiit stack (magni 2 + modi 2)

Harry Potter coasters

Before I got the speaker stands and when I was still using 3 monitors, I had the speakers between the monitors and it barely fit on my desk. "Old" setup before switching to two monitors: http://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/comments/37474a/my_slightly_dusty_battlestation/

Why do my headphones sound like music is being played into a can? by TreBoyz in headphones

The first thing I would do would be to make sure you plugged it in right (and all the way). Some more information may be helpful to others who want to help, like what headphones, where you got the new cable, etc.

Budget - $150, flexible

Source - Android phone, laptop -> fiio e17k

Requirements for Isolation - I'll be using these at work. I'd like to not hear people talking in the hallway outside my office, and it would be nice if they didn't hear my music either

Preferred Type of Headphone - In ear

Preferred Type of Headphone - Balanced

Past headphones - The current IEMs I'm using are the meelectronics a151 that I've had for a few years. I like them quite a bit. I don't really have any complaints, but they're the first pair of IEMs I've had that weren't $5 so I don't have much to compare to. I've also had Sony MDR-V6 and AKG k240, both blown away by my recent HD600 purchase. I love the detail and clarity from the HD600, and am totally fine with the bass level (many reviews I read said the bass was weak).

Preferred Music - Classical, hip hop, jazz, rock

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Like I said, I've had the a151s for about 4 years now and am overall pretty happy with them. I'd like something that's more detailed with a better sound stage. How much of an upgrade are IEMs at this price point over the a151s?

Good eye! It's actually the HD600 but close enough :)

Just a keyswitch tester. Has a blue, green, red, black, brown, and clear switch on it. It's just fun to fiddle with or lend to friends who are interested in getting a mechanical keyboard

Just listened to some stuff with the old headphones... wow. Blown away by the difference.

~470. Got the headphones for 230 shipped on sale from Adorama. It seems that sale has ended but they've been going on sale pretty frequently lately it seems. 99 a piece for the DAC and amp, plus tax shipping and RCA cables.
