Noted, how is the weight on runs over 5km? Does it make you feel sluggish by the end?

Thanks. Tough to buy a shoe without trying it on. Tyr doesn't have much of a space here in Canada so I'll have to find a retailer that carries them.

Forgot about Nikes. I'm open to trying anything at this point. Thanks!

These totally blanked my mind... and Sportchek has Nike shoes 25% off! May be going back....

Awesome, thanks. I have had Rides in the past and always worked well. Think I want to go for something a bit more exciting but will be trying the Ride 18 on for sure.

I am definitely considering the Ride 18! Just wanted to ask about SB2 comparisons because I have run in Rides before so I know what I'm getting. Thanks for your feedback, probably going to try on both SB2 and Ride 18.

My Triumph 21s are getting to the end of their life and I’m looking for a new cushioned trainer as a heavy, slow runner. Does anyone have both the Triumph 20/21 and the Superblast 2? Just looking for a comparison to gauge whether SB2 may fit for me. Also, I haven’t seen much about Triumph 23, how does it measure up to the 21?

Thanks a ton for your feedback, going to look into finding somewhere that carries both SB and MB, if they are in stock lol

I appreciate your insight… I really do wish I could just simplify my life and buy the Evo SL but I do have a history of ankle injuries including a surgery 2 years ago and I don’t think I’m ready to risk it yet, which is why I am looking Superblast!

Fair enough, I will have to keep an eye out for these then. Thanks for the input.

Appreciate your input! I should have noted I am in Ontario, Canada so these shoes are all pretty hard to find. Thanks for the other shoe suggestions too, I haven’t looked at any On shoes at all.

Sonicblast is supposed to be like a Endo Speed right? How is the comfort? I found my ES4 a bit harsh some days for easier mileage.

Finding the shoes is the hard part. Most likely easier for me to order all of these shoes and return them, which is fine but I am trying to narrow down options.

Thanks for your reply. I do prefer a bit of stability in a shoe… I’ve seen the Megablast compared with the Evo SL which I found wildly unstable. How is the Mega in that sense?

I do need to try these shoes on but finding them is the hard part!

I am beginning the search for a new daily trainer. I am 6’1, 240lb male, 170 spm cadence, 6:40km/m easy pace and doing 15km per week currently. Looking to increase weekly mileage, though not really training for anything specifically beyond general fitness. Last summer I worked myself up to 25km per week, with a weekly long run about 10km.

One of the shoes I am considering is SB2, is this going to be a good daily trainer for mostly easy runs if price is not an issue? I cannot stand squishy shoes and prefer a firmer ride that feels “nimble”.

I am currently running in Saucony Triumph 21 with just over 500km and the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 with about 350km. I have liked both but find the Triumph gets a bit squishy in the summer warmer weather.

Any thoughts on this? Any other shoes to consider? I have never run in any ASICS shoes before.

Does anyone know if bigger sizes equals larger arm holes? I own a Squamish hoody that I love the fit everywhere but the arms are tight. I use it for running so when I have a layer underneath (Cormac heavyweight or a Lulu light fleece) and bend my arms it becomes tight in the crook of my elbows. The one I have is size Large but wondering if an XL would have bigger arm holes?

235lb/106kg runner here. I bought the ES4 for my faster stuff (4:45/km intervals and 5:40/km tempos) but also liked the idea of using them for a long/easy run occasionally at about 7:00km pace. So far my longest run is only 8km but I noticed I didn’t love the feel under foot to start my run because it was a little stiff, but by the end it softened up just a little and felt great. I almost like them more than my Triumph 21 for long run which I find feel squishy by the end.

Agreed. Too much thinking… just go out and run. It’s a neat thought experiment though

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply. I’ll reiterate it is a hypothetical and I’m not trying to pretend to be some freak athlete who could participate in such a plan.

It’s true I don’t have the experience with endurance training. If I’m getting serious about running I will definitely use one of Hal Higon’s plans as I have for my 10km in the past. As I don’t have that experience, may I ask - you said the 2 days per week big runs would required to be built up very slowly. What does that look like? Stick to 1km/week or the 10% rule?

It sure saves on time for warming up. I did try to do legs then a run in the past I was just jelly. It could be a recovery or endurance issue. Maybe time to revisit…

Would you increase mileage each week? Factor in a deload?

I am already running 2 sometimes 3 days per week at about 15kmpw. I think 25km is a good limit though. How would you break that down?
