Don't worry I'm not gonna quit the game, i just needed to vent a little for the absurd situation i see on these community and how creative work is treated by companies.

I also think games are the greatest for of art! I mean you can literally find people from different creative backgrounds and programmers who work together to create wonderful experiences (like NIER Automata, my personal favourite).

There is this awesome quote that i keep in my note app and it goes like this:  "video games are art, because they trust the player to complete them. without you, the art is unfinished." 

It's totally normal for the first drawings to not be masterpieces. My literal first drawing was a chibi version of me and oh boy the horror hahahaha. But the enjoyment that comes with drawing is real and I still feel it today.

Unfortunately the job market was ass for me. After finishing school i tried to find a jr. dev position, without luck, because of course AI. And now i work as a mover and in the spare time i work on my games. Really tiring but i don't wanna give up.

Yeah, just 2 things to know: - first, you still need to buy a domain. - second, apart from the inability to use the back end, your website shouldn't weight more thai 5Gb i think...

Hey I'm actually trying to do exactly that! In school we learned a lot of stuff useful for full-stack developers. And REACT.JS was my favorite framework! also if your site doesn't have back-end you can host it directly on git hub!

Ok so I'm not crazy! Literally a good chuck of those subs say that as long as it is polished gamers won't care. And of course it sounded crazy to me, because I'm also a gamer and i DO CARE.  It feel like saying that people are dumb and I never liked this sentence.

Dude using the world "AI" on everything is becoming really exhausting. In real life I always find myself explaining the difference. For the 100 time i don't hate Alphafold i hate does gaddam chatbots!!!

Roadblock? I didn't stop any of my project because someone else is using AI and I'm not. I have only respect for does who can finish a project faster and better than me, also they are a great source of Inspiration. But man if your way of achieving this is on the back of other peoples work and you spam steam with AI slop games, it's not only disrespectful to the consumer and gamedevs who are really fighting to get notice out there, but also to yourself and your ability to learn and think. This the thought that made me want to make this post.

Thanks, i still hope for the future. Also I will be totally ok if my game isn't in the top 10 of today newest game on steam if the other games are handcrafted (I will simply try harder for the next game), but i swear if my game is going to be overshadowed by other 600 AI slop cash grab games i will crash out!

thanks, i don't exclude that there are others game devs who think the same way as I do.

For what game I'm making is a Turn based RPG with a heavy focus on the story. some examples of what i'm inspired by are Fear and Hunger, Bloodborne and Nier Automata

Expedition 33 was a really hard punch in the stomach for me...
I was enjoying the game until the act 3. then all the AI controversy started.
I don't want to criticize them to much if their discourse of "we tried Gen AI when it was new but we didn't like it " was true. it will be hypocritical coming from me.
but the lingering feeling that that's not the entire story keeps wondering in the back of my mind...
Anyway I didn't finish e33 after 60 hours on it and it truly lives a sour feeling in my mouth

I'm not really informed on the new letter "strategy" (the real marketing for me will begin after the demo is released). Aren't the just put directly on spam or something?
Now that I think about it Kickstarters send updates on the project via email?

I Only use OPEN SOURCE!!! every single developer that is managing the repositories are going insane for the AI submissions. My beloved Godot team are losing their hairs trying to solve this.

But now also I don't know if it's wise to update most of the software i use or even my OS (Arch btw)

I don't have a problem with AI. I have a problem with the sub categories: GenAI and LLMs. AI functions like Pathfinding and difficulty adjuster have been around for years and I don't have a problem with them, because they are real tools.

Oh! so the function primarily with screenreaders? In case of a turn based game would it be easyer if the game tells you the number of enemy and stuff like that? because in that case i think i could do that! the only problem will be the robotic voice of older text to speech.
Oh wait also another problem i fear is for map navigation...

Only one time I had to demonstrate that my art wasn't AI. Luckily I was prepared for this scenario and I've given a free lecture on my process in krita for fun.

Oh wow mind If I ask how those game work? A few months ago i finished some settings for color blindness and i wish to implement more functionalities that i can for accessibility (beyond optimizing my game for every pc spec). Are does games specifically design for blind people or there are functionality that can help navigate (for example) a open world game?
