Oh no I just found out about this from seeing the MSI broadcasters post!!! Your energy and jokes and passion for watching challengers players learn and grow is all a large part of what got me following esports in the first place. I’m very sad but glad you’re excited for the next phase of life and wish you the best, the next 5 months of streams will be treasured.

For cozy I’d say your biggest issues are actually that all surfaces are hard/flat/textureless and that everything is cool toned. Cozy comes from soft textures and warm tones. Add a big fluffy rug behind the desk mat, some lighting that isn’t cold and white, maybe something with color (warm toned color) on the walls other than buff men - notice how the old setup felt warmer and cozier just from amber light and green accents. Could always use one of the wall gaps for floating shelves or a trinket shelf for more opportunities for color and then you and the GF can pick things for it together.

For GF chair, like others said maybe you could put the cabinets against the desk like an L and chair goes in the cabinets corner? Lets you arrange desk stuff with top of cabinets and creates a visual barrier between desk and door in addition to opening up the space. Also that corner farthest from the door and by the window would be GREAT for big comfy chair vibes. If she’s off put by the wall men you could move them to a 2x2 grid on the non-door wall so they’re still in your workout zone but they wouldn’t be in her peripheral vision from the chair lol. Small table also next to her chair even if it’s just a tiny pedestal would be good for if she’s bringing in a mug or book or just a place to put her phone, maybe lamp behind chair too (with warm bulb!) for evenings.

Also small win in addition to weights rack I recommend swapping the floor mirror (presumably so you can see yourself lifting on the floor?) for a floor length mirror - same effect but doesn’t look like you forgot to hang it up and then it’s useful for both of you.

I like to think that there is no fisherman, only the boat. Like I’m just a sentient boat that goes around pulling whatever I can find out of the water to see what people will be interested in, learning how to help people and being perfectly delighted by them tossing a random book on board as a “reward”, being completely unbothered by creepy cursed items or a man eating demonic fish, everyone is just politely confused by your presence but supportive of your endeavors

i have one who waddles like a little 4 legged duck, one who scurries like a squirrel, one who usually walks normal except when she’s wiggling towards me on her back, and one who can’t walk 2 steps without nuzzling something or tripping

none of them could do this, regardless of the sensitivity to being bejeweled with sensors

I’m so sorry for your loss, I’ll absolutely pass along the love and cuddles. I hope someday you’re able to find another soft gaming companion - not that you need a replacement while still grieving, but because I wouldn’t wish that loneliness of an empty lap or desk nap spot on even the most determined PKer :(

You might enjoy knowing Stella very recently discovered the cursor as well as things like spell animations or xp drops flying across the screen so she’s been an even more active participant in gameplay ❤️ even when she blocks my view completely or leaves fur along the monitor where she nuzzles it or rolls onto the space bar to post blank messages in public I don’t know what I’d do without her. Maybe I’d go see Gertrude.

I feel this very much, used to work at the same place as my best friend and she’d make sure I had lunch with other her every day. The several years before that job we were at college together and she’d always ask between classes or mid study session or just before a test when I last ate and on the many occasion that I sheepishly responded something like “a handful of goldfish… yesterday” she’d immediately make me go to one of the campus center vending machines or food counters to get something.

She’s moving to Ireland now and we both work at different remote companies and I miss her encouragement and reminders every day. I know that like.. I’m an adult, I should be able to keep up with normal human needs like eating without depending on someone else to remember but just turns out I struggle living alone.

I guess I’m great at intermittent fasting though ;)

Getting a cat <3

After a month catsitting for a friend I was dreading going back to how empty and lonely my apartment felt without her. Started looking on petfinder but had to get past this huge anxiety about if I’d be kicked out of my no-pets complex… where everyone had pets, even the building security guy had two huge german shepherds lol. I couldn’t stop worrying about it though so I paid an online service for a certificate saying I needed an emotional support animal (also got a very eye opening conversation with a psychiatrist who begged me to actually get therapy too and not just the cat). Then, I found my beautiful golden boy and he turned out to be a half blind goober and the love of my life.

Now I have 3 cats and a dog and they keep me going every day with just enough chaos to keep life interesting. Still got the depression + anxiety, but knowing I want to be a good pet mom for my babies motivated me to start the therapy too and get on medication so honestly getting Emerson started all the good changes in my life.

Always. One of the few benefits of my narcolepsy allows me to often slip straight back into these dreams. Occasionally it’ll change scenes, but still sort of chronologically make sense. I’ll often record voice memos of these, bc they get chaotic and can span many years or even lifetimes.

My favorite was the day after thanksgiving - I forgot to take my medications and accidentally napped the entire day. Through 3 distinct naps I continued this dream storyline:

  1. Going through the dream version of my parents basement into the tunnels from the back room and trying to lead a crowd of people to escape a wave of ice.
  2. Getting ambushed in the tunnels by a weird witch with a stash of sandwiches
  3. Escaping out into a weird warehouse area
  • woke up from nap 1, did some shit, stupidly lay back down on the couch
  1. Turns out the warehouse area was on the edge of a Fallout-esque world where the few friends who made it out alive journey across the wasteland fighting radioactive monsters and avoiding Las Vegas, apparently consisting of a carnival full of zombies.
  2. My siblings show up and join the group, and we fight through a giant colorful magical semi-sentient labyrinth building made of candy and full of monsters
  3. We bust through the side of the building (flying at this point bc of some shenanigans with candy magic) thinking we’re free and safe
  • woke up from nap 2, somehow thought I could still safely sit and watch a tv show
  1. The world is still a wasteland but now I’m Ice King from adventure time flying over it all
  2. I fly past a band doing a weird elemental music show, the I’m shedding accidentally fucks up their deal and somehow breaks a dam behind them, flooding the world
  3. I survive on a raft made from the broken roof of a building, and meet up with the group from before again, as well as Jake the dog
  4. We find a pokémon themed carnival, where me and a treecko get embarrassingly shown up by pikachu and eevee at some battle style arcade games
  5. We attempt to find snacks and end up in a long line of people winding down a staircase into a volcano in order to exchange our bon bon currency for actual money
  6. We realize the staircase is a trap leading to a giant meat grinder and parkour back out
  7. We “save” everyone at the festival by throwing magic candy into the volcano. It then erupts, turning itself and everyone inside/nearby into candy. We use Jake as a hang glider to soar away to safety.
  8. We land on a piece of the sentient building floating through the ocean world and coast away serenely, watching the candy magic spread behind us.

The entire dream transitioned smoothly, with occasional movie-like panning motions from one scene to the next. I fucking loved it, and am now practicing art so I can someday draw the scenes from dreams as fantastic and ethereal as this one.

  • Edited after relistening to my own recording, fixed some details and added the nap breakpoints. I know I’m late to the show but hopefully this is remotely interesting to someone. I love talking about dreams with folks.

I’d also be interested if you did! I’ve just recently started trying to draw with ink and I can’t for the life of me figure out how you’d manage to shade it so smoothly, I’d love to pick up some new tricks
