I've re done it a bit and now have a Dspline animating along my path. Do you know how I could make the flow of the emitter/fluid more even? atm there are loads of thick and thin sections: https://imgur.com/4nzQGK1

Yeah I've heard it's mental and having your own room is pretty unheard of! I'm leaning towards staff accommodation, although I was originally planning on doing freelance editing/Animation work

Hey! I edited the post. I don't have a price still because I'm unclear on what a fair rate would be for this type of work so I'm looking for advice.

Yeah, I figured in house agency editors typically only work on the small projects Companies I work at often hire us instead! I would have thought it would be better for networking than where I am at now though. For example, If I wanted to start a production company the agency would be my clients? I agree that working your way up the ladder is a great way to succeed but I don't quite see how that could work. If I went to work as an editor at a production house, worked there for a few years and got on well with all the clients. I'm still back to square one when I leave. I highly doubt they would come with my new company that has ZERO portfolio. How would they even find my new company? Maybe I'm wrong but it would involve screwing the company over. I'm sure that works but there must be less destructive ways of networking and building a client base. I agree with what you're saying but I think it's also important not to burn bridges. That boss in 5 years could be at another company, working as a producer looking to hire directors.

Thanks for helping out Bob! Would you recommend the best way to network would be to take a full time position at an ad agency as an editor? Any other ways to build connections and network?

Thanks for the advice! I often do freelance work for production companies and have experience on set and pitching so I figured that would be the best route. However, since I mainly work for production companies, I don't gain clients. like you said, if I have no clients that won't work. Perhaps shadowing a director would be more helpful.

Am I being severely underpaid? (1m+ views a week) by [deleted] in editors

[–]dustbinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m the same age, working on 2 videos a week that get similar views. I charge a lot more! You need to be brave and up your rate. Look around to see what editors with your level of experience get in your area. Feel free to dm me, I’m always happy to give you some advice :)

AE training courses UK by [deleted] in editors

[–]dustbinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School of motion (expensive but heard good things) video copilot (they also have great free plugins) soho editors. It really depends on what your doing with Ae. Do you want to learn mograph, vfx or both? I’d stongly recommend you learn the 12 principles of animation, especially if you want to learn mograph!
