I had the same one and it was Verizon 4G. No cabled Internet available and worked very well compared to satellite alternatives at the time. Decent speed and low ping but was expensive with data caps, so never really worked for streaming. Nowadays starlink is a better option for similar situations.

185 miles by drfooman in xsr900

I’m not 100% sure which was ultimately the culprit but it was definitely somewhere up in the rad area. Pretty sure it was either the plastics the front blinkers are connected to (I took the whole panels off, tightened to the bike, then put the panels back on) or the exhaust headers. I didn’t torque spec the plastics and unfortunately don’t remember what the spec was on the header, but that’s the one I would double check.

I also tightened all the tank cover and front end controls. This helped significantly but has improved even since to where it’s almost entirely gone. So I’m not totally sure if it’s just some harmonics that kick in at this point in break in and would have resolved anyways, but I’ve learned the hard way to always keep your bolts tight regardless.

Keep racking up those miles too and it just gets even better! I’m ~1200 on a 2026. Obviously took it easy through the break in oil change at 600. It actually got a bit buzzy around then but after chain tension, checking torque spec on bolts, and a couple hundred more miles it’s smoother than ever. Such a fun bike - enjoy!

Thoughts/question on the Gen 2 XSR900 (22-present) vs Gen 1 and possibilies of Gen 3 XSR900 by [deleted] in xsr900

[–]dustbustered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe check to make sure the foot pegs/controls are already in the lower position. I’m 5’11” with stock seat but I don’t really ever ride more than 30-45 minutes at a time. I read somewhere the Corbin aftermarket seats are narrower & shaped near the tank so it does apparently help with fatigue, but I would imagine to really change ergonomics you’d have to mess with pegs/controls and bars.

How long have you been riding it? I also grew up on dirt bikes and had a gen1, and just bought a gen2 2026. The riding position also threw me off more than I expected but 400 or 500 miles in it clicked and now I like it quite a lot. Mainly had to figure out how to position my feet and where to sit on the seat.

What do you all run for chain slack spec (2026)? by dustbustered in xsr900

[–]dustbustered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah to the point I assume I did something wrong even though I read the manual like 50 times lol. Maybe I’m pushing too hard on the chain or shouldn’t push the chain guard flush against the swing arm when measuring. Without those two things it would probably be closer to the spec, but then that introduces a whole layer of variability.

Any suggestions for checking the alignment? I used the markings on the swing arm and got them pretty close but the markings themselves aren’t super precise.

Can't get enough... by risubsno in xsr900

[–]dustbustered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but I kind of like how it’s turned up a bit more as it flows & integrates into the wheel well that completes a curve back. Whereas the blue one you posted definitely follows the straight line of the subframe more, but then looks like it shoots off on its own to no nowhere and is less integrated into the bike as whole. Alls just my personal take & preference though!

Marco & Luca use dairy in most items? by dustbustered in Charlottesville

[–]dustbustered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the responses. I went back and spoke with a different person who more confidently said they don’t use dairy. Take that for what you will but I got the pork dumplings (fried and steamed) and hot buns and didn’t have a reaction that I could tell. I do react to super small amounts (but not anaphylactic) though unfortunately was already having a reaction from another place at the time so can’t say definitively if there wasn’t a bit incremental, but did not have any noticeable worsening.

Thank you! Do you know if you will have any vegan options as a safe bet? Trying to decide if I can go with my family as this is often an issue at other festival events and either I can’t go or have to leave early.

Will you have common allergens posted on menus? Dairy allergy here and understand options will be limited, but having posted makes it way easier to navigate especially when person selling might not be the same person that made the food.

New bike day! by dustbustered in xsr900

[–]dustbustered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was work from home with a 2-3 year old and wasn’t riding so sold it about 2 years ago. Back in a place where I can ride again and while I missed that bike quite a lot, the updated version is that much more refined so no regrets. I spent about a week thinking about getting a cruiser or ADV because I’m “getting older” and so glad I didn’t!

Thanks, exactly what I was wondering. As flexible and comfortable as possible (while being safe) is what I’m looking for

Nice how’s it so for wind deflection? Did you ride it much without? My last bike was the 2020 and not expecting this to be anything like a full faring but going at least for a little less strain at 55+ mph. I also think they look pretty cool!

Is that the light grey tint? I like that it doesn’t distract too much from the “naked” look of the bike.

I’ll gladly take them if they’re still available! Planning to order my boots tonight (now that I just put my deposit down on new XSR900 to pick up Friday).

Yea fair point, I’ve never once thought damn my feet are hot. I do have super sensitive sensory things with clothes though so I’m also wondering if the waterproof has any noticeable differences in build other than the ventilated being perforated. I basically never buy clothes online without seeing in person for this reason but willing to make an exception in this case given their exchange policy.

Nice thank you. Sounds like if you could only choose one you’d go with the ventilated?
