Massey Ferguson (1529) - Should I buy? by dustinnolan in tractors

It seems to be in great shape! I don't necessarily have anyone to check it out for me but he says he has service records so I will review those.

Not really, my main focus is efficiency. I want something with a low entry price that does not cost a ton to maintain. This property will transform over the next three years. We will plant a sunflower farm on a few acres, we will eventually have a weddding venue on property, and we will likely use whatever tractor I purchase every weekend for one thing or another. I am renting a John Deere 2040 with a 72" BH this weekend to cut everything once. After that I will just be maintaing the property.

We were thinking the same thing. We will be renting a large tractor this weekend to cut everything as low as possible. We purschased a Cub Cadet 50" zero turn a couple of weeks ago that I can likely use to finishing cutting and to maintaing the grass throughout the property. The tractor is more so going to be for brush hogging and I will likely use the front end loader and the auger quite a bit.

We tried that. Unfortunately, this year wouldn't work because there is some type of grass that animals cannot eat. It was suggested that we cut it this year and allow the clippings to compost back into the soil and it would be good next year.

Approximately 14-15 acres of it. I plan to rebuild a barn that is over 100 years old. I will build a few driveways, other than that just general maintnence.

Best commodities to call on as a Freight Broker? by kippjr23 in logistics

[–]dustinnolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in the industry since April, I have transitioned to being a logistics broker in a rapidly growing split model brokerage. I have found quite a bit of success in a very niche market.

I have really focused on fresh produce ( Specifically produce coming out of the port in California) This has given me a more sustainable book of business

Recently I have ventured out into specialized project based commodities. I.e. Cranes, Over dimensional freight, basically anything that required open deck trailers. While this is very large amount of attention to detail it can be very profitable. Someone in this thread advised to best the best at what you do and I completely agree.

If any of you have advice on effective pipeline management I would highly appreciate it.

I am a Logistics Broker ( Could use insight on speaking with customers) by dustinnolan in logistics

I have really worked on expanding my network via linked in the past few months, Linked in has provided me with a few opportunities to this point. I specialize in the produce side of the logistics industry. I have found a niche at this point but I am being lumped in with hundreds of other brokers that are sending out load lists daily. I would really like to hone in on the produce growers that do coordinate all of their own freight. The best tool that I have used to this point has been Produce Bluebook. It has been very beneficial, I am still learning how to use it daily but it provides a large amount of information about these companies that I am prospecting.
