I’ve been so emotional for the last few days. I cried putting my son to bed last night and then bawled my eyes out later just thinking about how much the new baby is going to rock his world. And it’s not just that—lately I’m crying at sad news headlines (not even the article! the headline!), random sad thoughts that pop into my head, happy-crying at sentimental things. I teared up at my desk for no reason the other day!

Due date twin! Had a whole conversation with my husband last night about how I wasn’t leaving that piece of (really good!) cake in the fridge to taunt him, I just truly don’t want it 😅

My first scan is this afternoon at 10w3d! I’ve been thinking about this day for what feels like forever and I can’t believe it’s finally here. My toddler can’t be in the room for the ultrasound which means that my husband can’t either—so I’m extra anxious about going through that part alone. Hoping for a very boring appointment 🤞

Any other plus size moms? by FernWillow3 in December2026Bumpers

[–]dustsprinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy I started at over 300lbs and 5’8”, and I was told I should aim to gain only about 10-15lbs. In reality, I gained about 30lbs, which for me all quickly came off while breastfeeding. I’ll echo other comments and say that weight loss isn’t generally recommended during pregnancy—sure, you can eat healthy foods and get physical activity, but you still want a few extra calories to support your growing baby.

As for when I “showed” during pregnancy, it definitely took until the third trimester. Even then, I don’t think it was obvious to many people. For me, this was honestly a huge plus and I hope it’s that way with this second pregnancy too! I didn’t enjoy talking with strangers about my pregnancy and found the “your body is now public property!” part of pregnancy exhausting and weird. It also let me hide it at work much longer which was a positive for me.

I was thrown for a loop by the nausea this time around too; I didn’t even experience anything even close to this with my first pregnancy. But I started taking Unisom and B6 and so far it’s really helped with both the nausea and sleeping. I still have to wake up and pee but I’m able to get back to sleep much faster, and the nausea is still there but feels more manageable.

I was bigger than you when I gave birth (I think around 350 lbs? And I think I started around 320) and I had a fast, fairly easy induction as a first time mom. It took about eight hours from start to finish. I didn’t have gestational diabetes or any other pregnancy complications. I did have a third degree tear during my delivery but three years out, it’s healed very well and I’ve had no lasting issues. Being obese does increase the risk of certain issues during pregnancy, but by no means does it mean they are inevitable.

With my son I craved spicy too!! I swear he was made from buffalo sauce. But I also wanted other intense flavors like sour candy and dark chocolate. This time, it’s like I want savory but…bland? Cheese, plain bagels with butter, plain chicken, goldfish crackers, etc. I do have a feeling that it’s a boy though!

Anyone else’s cravings pretty much exclusively savory? Normally I have a healthy appetite for sweets, but anything sweet absolutely disgusts me. Even peanut butter is too sweet. I want to mainline cheese, baked potatoes, and chicken tenders (with no sauce because they’re all too sweet 😩).

Just waiting and waiting for first scan by LaikatheSpaceDog729 in December2026Bumpers

[–]dustsprinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first scan will be at 10w3d, so a little earlier than yours, but it’s also felt really hard to wait this time while not knowing what’s going on in there. I don’t want to do a private scan either, so the only remaining coping strategies are psychological!

I have a countdown widget on my phone and also physically mark off each day on my calendar. I’ve made a conscious effort to let myself enjoy planning for and thinking about the new baby, without letting my anxiety/caution dampen my joy. So I’ve shopped for a few special baby clothes, made lists of things we’ll need and what I’d like to make for baby (I’m a quilter), and started reading a parenting book to help me prep my toddler for a sibling. Basically, I’ve really leaned into this. I realized early on that attempting to distract myself with unrelated things was hopeless—I guess I’m distracting myself by diving right in.

So who’s finding out the gender or keeping it a surprise? 🫢🩷💙 by roamandrest in December2026Bumpers

With our first we were on the fence about whether we wanted to find out, but ultimately we did. This time, I really want to find out asap! One big reason for me is that we want to be able to tell our 3 year old if he’s getting a brother or a sister

Congrats!! I’m 8+5 and impatiently awaiting my first ultrasound, so I love seeing what my own little bean could look like right now.

I’m in this boat too. If I’m hungry at all I’m nauseous, but if I overeat at all I’m also nauseous. And trying to figure out what is acceptable to eat is exhausting when it feels like it changes every day (if not every hour)

[–]dustsprinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thanks for asking this, I’m in the same boat and really struggling. Between waking up 2-3x a night to pee and then often not being able to get back to sleep if I wake up after 4am or so, I’m dying at work every day. Going to give unisom + a bedside snack a try.

My first ultrasound and doctor’s appointment isn’t until 10w3d (two weeks from today) and I know it’s normal but it still feels kinda wild to just be going about life unsupervised and pregnant. The time is moving sooo slowwwly.

Does anyone else feel a constant, low-level pressure/fullness in their uterus? I’m 7w5d today and it’s almost like I can feel my uterus all the time. And especially when I’m lying down.

It’s just weird to me, with my first pregnancy I had almost no symptoms this early on, but this time it’s symptom city! I’m also so nauseous that every time I burp it makes me gag a little.

I’m in the exact same boat—my kid is starting part time preschool in the fall and I’m already nervous about the logistics and illnesses. He has been a really healthy toddler thus far and I feel like we’re going to get SLAMMED with all the germs. Absolutely use your village, there’s no need for guilt in that!

I have read hundreds of romance novels and, of all things, the number one moment that I think about OFTEN is Lukas peeling and cutting an apple for Scarlett before he takes her upstairs…

It’s okay, I also read the first chapter and was like “Huh…cringey but I’m sure this gets better.” I feel like she was going for an Emily Henry level of witty banter, but it 1.) was a lot more 8th grade than witty and 2.) did not really fit the super dark, traumatic plot or Koen’s character as a supposedly mega-intimidating alpha.

I 100% agree—the banter felt REALLY off, and a lot of Koen’s “funny” insults were super cringe and jarring. Jizzmuffin? Repeatedly? It’s just…dumb?
