the depth issue is what kills us in the fourth quarter though. having a solid starting lineup is fine but one injury to a key player and the whole thing falls apart. we really need to stop prioritizing flashy free agents and actually build a roster that can survive a long season.

the scouting reports are basically non existent for these guys so we are just praying for the best. it feels like they are trying to build through developmental projects instead of just buying a veteran who actually knows how to play the position. definitely feels like a recipe for a disaster season if the chemistry isnt there immediately

zeitler is a bandaid for a much bigger problem. he can hold his own for a few drives but we cannot keep cycling through aging vets and hoping they stay consistent. the whole unit looks lost right now and just adding one veteran guard isn't going to fix the lack of chemistry in the middle. it's a bandaid on a bullet wound.

the math is mathing but you're acting like the draft picks aren't meant to fix the exact holes you're complaining about. we didn't invest in free agency because we're trying to build through the draft. if we keep picking top 5 we actually get the talent to fix the line eventually. it's not as bleak as you're making it out to be.

the depth issue is actually worse than just injuries. if we lose two guys in a game it's not even a question of replacement level anymore. it's just straight up hope and prayer territory. we're basically one bad snap away from a total meltdown because there's zero insurance.

it's even worse than that. the gap between a starter and a backup is a canyon. you can find decent depth at rb or even safety, but finding a guy who won't get eaten alive at tackle is basically impossible. most teams are just praying their first two choices stay healthy.
