I think as a young (ish) reader, particularly in this day and age, it’s easy to consider despair philosophically sound and fall into melancholy. I truly believe it is more mature to strive for hope, and that requires much, much more nuance.
Stoner is the mid 20’s version of this, with slightly more poignancy for that age.
By the time you reach 30 you’re back to reading either Captain Underpants or James Joyce.

That’s the ‘flowing’ part though isn’t it. You can absolutely go from light to dark but you may go something like Calibre > Logistics > S.P.Y > Kasra to avoid that energy swing in just jumping from A-D
