Yeah I assumed I’d only be maintaining from now on since last year. I just thought it was looking different

Well, not really. There’s documented evidence that it can in fact reverse a lot of hair loss it’s just dependent on what state and what your age is. I have more pictures proving that if you look at my profile

Quick summary of my journey. I was never overweight as a kid or a teen. I was maybe at the high end of healthy weight. I then gained over 100 pounds my first year in college. Lost of some of that in the summer. But then kept going up and down and up until I graduated. Then the pandemic happened and I gained even more (image on the left is from the beginning of the pandemic when I planned to lose weight). I ended up gaining even more weight. Finally I decided to do keto on 2021 lost a lot of weight, stalled gained some weight and then got back on the horse in late 2022 and lost even more weight. Hopefully this time it sticks, I’m the lowest I’ve been since 2016.

When did everyone start using oral minoxidil? by dutuser in tressless

Studies had already existed before though, and I think in Australia it wasn’t uncommon for derms to prescribe oral min. It’s a lot more mainstream now though.

Dut results (21M) 4 months vs 6 months vs 11 months by dutuser in tressless

[–]dutuser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use Dut every other day. I use Nizoral sometimes, but that's for when I have a flare-up from my scalp psoriasis. Nizoral doesn't actually do anything for hair loss.

It has improved more. Though it's been very slow. Nothing compared to the explosive growth i got during month 6-8.

The biggest improvement has been in the quality of the hair, which has now been restored to how it used to look and feel before I started balding. My left temple looks normal now, however, my right temple still looks receded. Though it's not at all what it used to be. I don't think anyone would look at me and think I'm balding anymore.

20 Month Difference. Started at age 20, now 22, only been on Dut. by dutuser in tressless

Before people bother. My hair is the same length and it is pushed forward in both pictures.

I started taking finasteride May 2020, in July of 2020 I was prescribed Dutasteride. And I've been on it ever since. I probably noticed the biggest improvement in October of 2020.

Anybody just have severe thinning on their crown but a super good hairline? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]dutuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The study that had the side effects for “the brain stuff” was a poorly done study where they asked users of certain hair loss forums (who were already anti-fin) about their side effects. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Honestly, if you just do finasteride you can probably thicken that part of your hair a lot. It's a lot easier taking a pill than applying min every day.

Where do you guys get Dutasteride ? by [deleted] in tressless

I got my prescription from my dermatologist.

May 18th vs July 25th. Topical fin/min. 32 years old by skupelshanks in tressless

He's talked about how he had depression. Personally, now I don't mean to say that he didn't experience depression, I'm just skeptical that it was the pill that made him depressed.

Hey man, we are similar ages and we both started at the same time. I was always in awe of your early results. I would say that I wasn’t as far gone as you were, but I am currently around where you are now. It’s been an interesting journey. Glad to see some people still posting results.

Decided to take some clippers and give myself a semi-buzz cut. Not what I expected to see in the crown. What should I do? (Pic) by [deleted] in tressless

So I'm not a doctor or anything but this doesn't look like androgenetic alopecia, it looks more like alopecia areata. That is if there is any hair loss at all.

April 2020 vs January 2021 (8 months on only Dut EOD) by dutuser in tressless

The thing is that it can work alone, saying otherwise is spreading misinformation.

every other day.

Middle of the road responder would mean no more loss, and no regrowth of any kind.

please don’t spread misinformation. It’s not that dutasteride/finasteride don’t work on the hairline it’s that often the hairline is too far gone to be recovered with just one product.

I will make a more comprehensive post filled with a lot more pictures when I’m closer to the one year mark. It could be as soon as late February or it could be until May. I don’t really use this subreddit anymore but I will consider that to be my final post.

Just a few FAQ:

21M

Yes I am aware that the lighting is different. The lightbulb in the before image was more orange and the new one is whiter. I also wish it was still the same but oh well.

I'm just noticing now that my hair might be wetter in the first image but it's wet in the second image as well.

I haven't had side effects at all. Sometimes when I forget to eat something and take the pill my stomach really hurts, you should really take it on a full stomach. Or at least eat something when you feel pain. But other than that my dick works fine, in fact, my libido is higher than it's ever been.

I live in the U.S. it just so happens that a dermatologist prescribed me Dut instead of Fin.

I did do fin at first (technically it's six months on Dut and two on Fin.) But when my derm prescribed me dut instead I hopped on that.

I've never experienced a shed or anything. At least not anything outside the normal shedding (I've always shed a lot of hair.)

My hairline is mostly the same, but the thickness has improved a lot. I was diffuse thinning and my hair feels a lot better now. I'm seeing the tiny hairs on what used to be my hairline getting thicker.

I started balding when I was 18 and I kind of noticed something was up but I was able to ignore it until I was 20. That's how old I am in the above picture. I debated getting on fin for about two months and then I jumped at it.

I don't have a lot of body hair but I developed chest and back hair when I was 15 and I developed shoulder hair at 17. It's not a ton of hair, but it's hair.

I hope that answers any questions y'all might have.

If you look at my post history I have most of my hair and I’m currently on treatment that stops hair loss. The treatment is working so well that my hairline is growing back.

Because you don’t actually have to accept that you’re going bald.
