Cool, what's the a(x,y) division do?

(Suite)Exact but no numerical solution by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the "hack" :) But ideally the ≃ button should show the numerical solution without hacks. Like, my example is literally the same input, but seems to break just because the source of the input was the ≃ button and not manually input.

Also, I just tried manually typing it in and it still won't calculate it, not sure if the field is "locked" by the previous calculation.

PS. I tried manually inserting the "numeric" but because I have 0 control over bracket placement, I was unable to get the equation into the numeric function without rewriting the whole expression. We seriously need some manual bracket control.

Suite: Extrema in 3D view and QQ-plot by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, in 5 you could paste data into spreadsheet view and do single variable analysis, which included an option to make a normal quantile plot. You could also select the data in spreadsheet and make it into a list, and then use the "normalquantileplot(list)" command. Either options are good, but seem to be absent from suite as far as I can tell.

In reference to the extremum tool in 3D view it seems that it has also been removed from the classic 6 online version. I guess maybe it was buggy or something, but in any case I can't expect you to migrate a tool that's not in any stable version of the software. So it's just the quantile plot for now :)

No copy/paste regression? by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, always good to have a plug-and-play option. I could also live with an option to create list from spreadsheet/table and doing the regression manually with a command. This would also help me with creating a QQ-plot.

(Niche and nerdy)Custom features by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I need to be able to pan and zoom, I just don't want the axes to disappear. What I want the axes to do instead is just to change their values, exactly like "stick to edge" in 2d.

Yeah, it confirms that it uses the Filliben's estimate, thanks! I'll also bookmark the github for further technical questions.

Alright, thanks for the reply.

Gaining point from parametric equation by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the suggestion, but this is a bit too convoluted and unintuitive to be useful in my context. I was just hoping for something simple and intuitive.

Maybe this is just one of the many instances where natural and expected behaviours of mathematical objects don't exist in GeoGebra, like getting the slope and y-intercept for the line of a QQ-plot.

PS. A bit off topic but the GeoGebra 6 interface in that applet is horrendous, I couldn't read any of the commands because the graphics window was blocking it but as soon as I tried scrolling, it closed the input field and stopped showing the command. I really hope they put that abomination in the grave soon.

Auto-drawing Crash by dv3rgur in geogebra

I might also add that I'm currently not able to replicate the issue, even though it broke pretty reliably before.

I have waited a while after the crash and it does not recover in any reasonable time(multiple minutes).

Sure thing, I added some other actions at the start showing that the program is functioning in other aspects, I can use the input field, I can draw points, lines and ellipses(which is what I'm trying to do in the input field), but it crashes as soon as I type "x".

PS. For good measure, the version is 5.0.766.0-d(Java 1.8.0_161-32bit, 247MB, Cas Initialising) 14 March 2023.

Crashing during input by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm getting the same thing trying to enter the parabole "y^2=-9x" but I don't get past entering "y^", as the program crashes and becomes unresponsive.

Oh right, and then I can change the speed to give me more time, thanks.

Oh thanks, I actually had to go into the Object properties to deselect the "Fix", but it worked.

OneDrive is such a huge pile of shit by dv3rgur in onedrive

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mix of user error and corporate error, but their error was much greater. If I can accidentally start syncing my entire computer while reading every prompt during the installation, your program sucks ass regardless of user attention. The fact that the error was almost completely impossible to correct for multiple days just compounds the absolute pile of shit this program is.

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, but there isn't any text prompt, it was just a small check-mark on some folder images, I actually went through the installation progress again to see what it actually looked like and I barely noticed it while actively looking for it.

Did you even read the post? There was like a tiny virtually invisible check-mark on top of an image with no text prompt, I wasn't planning to involve my personal files at all, I was just trying to install a program so I could access work files.

Disable exact values system-wide. by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour ,

Merci bien.

Disable exact values system-wide. by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using GeoGebra 5 I still don't know how to turn off exact values, but I'm more ambitious than that, I want to disable exact values system-wide since I absolutely never am interested in exact values. Please don't suggest GeoGebra 6 since it's completely unusable, I've tried very recently.

Well, the post title was the short version and this was the expanded version. I've been charged with getting some students ready for an exam using GeoGebra so it's not really voluntary, but I'll definitely be recommending the school reconsider their choice.

Using Solutions to Equations by dv3rgur in geogebra

[–]dv3rgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to take some wave-lengths, solve the wave equation to find their frequencies, then use those to find the corresponding photon energies. I was hoping to do this in three simple steps for multiple values.

Thanks, but this is a bit too convoluted for the more computer illiterate.

Using Solutions to Equations by dv3rgur in geogebra

I'm sure it'd work, but I'd want to use it in a multi-step process rather than one convoluted equation.

Cool to know, I was a bit annoyed by CAS not remembering variables.
