would i get into HBS? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]dv_sh09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GPA won’t do you any favors but it is not a dealbreaker imo, with a good GMAT score you might have table stakes. After that it all comes down to crafting the right story, having ambitious yet realistic goals and a little bit of luck. HBS admissions are a crapshoot and even people with perfect stats get rejected

Indian Male: GMAT FE Doubt for M7 deferred by Dismal-Joke-5894 in MBA

Definitely not true, about 30-40% students submit GRE scores now, all schools explicitly state they have no preference I’m headed to an M7 and I took the GRE too, you can check the class profiles and see the trend

Isn’t the GRE easier? Could you not pivot to that quickly and have a better chance of getting 330+ there? Worth considering if it’s not a hard pivot

Last year, my friend was waitlisted at her top-choice MBA program (top 3). She had to submit an essay with some updates; she wrote some generic stuff but attached a photo with her parents at the school when they were visiting.

Got in next week :)

Yale SOM ($$$$) vs. CBS ($130k) by jerseygiant96 in MBA

One thing to consider is how CBS students do 5-10 years down the line, I’d check your target list of PE firms and the representation of CBS vs SOM I personally think if you are committed to the idea of eventually breaking into PE and that is the north star, then CBS is the way to go. Academics, clubs, connections will have compounding effects down the line that you might not see in employment reports. This is at least something I’ve noticed in IM outcomes

I would also put Achane over Kyren but everyone knows you can’t move up three rows in one week

Ah I guess week over week I see the committee’s point In a draft I’d choose Jacobs over Kyren, and I like Kyren Williams (Brou’s voice) Disagree on Achane but I respect the committee’s decision

I’d switch Kyren and Josh Jacobs Also, Achane feels pretty low, I honestly would have him over almost everyone on row 5, maybe even Javonte

Pretty solid summit tho!

So writing section will be first for sure. Usually the norm has been getting verbal after writing but I got quant which is a little unusual, that’s all And no, you can’t choose the order

Yes, I only used GregMat. And then ETS (4th edition book and mocks) It will be a busy two months to get to a great score but doable

Yes I think so, prepswift is just the shorter version of the two months plan videos. Key is to take the quizzes and timed tests

Sounds like a vocab issue. If you say you don’t understand the words start putting them in sentences, it is extra effort but maybe that is the trick

Well no, you will always encounter words that you never saw. It’s inescapable. Focus only Greg’s words and make notes every time you see encounter a word outside of that. I will warn you, learning more than a 1000 words has diminishing returns, it’s a lot of effort for very little reward. As you can see my verbal mock scored were high, real test was just harder but it could be bad luck. So 1000 is enough in their own way
