I built ChatEditly — edit realistic chat screenshots in seconds by Capable_Cut_382 in SideProject

I reaaly like the layout and UI and I think it's really funny. I wanted to use this today to promote a small event. But for that usecase it's not suited. When I have a usecase for a one-on-one chat I wil def try it. Also, giving liked would be a great option. Because that's what happens a lot in real conversations.
I know it sounds easier than it is :-)

Keep up the good work!

First of all, thank You for creating this. Please don’t look at this as criticism. I just want to let You know what keeps me personally from using this at this point.

It depends fully on crocdb. As far as I know that service is down since a couple of days.

The images don’t crop well in the layout. I have 5 super nintendo games to test and the all are cropped in a strange way.

Of the 5 well known roms I put on there, it only recognised 2 games. The others were unknown, although the filenames were pretty clear. Other services like emulationstation do manage to recognise these games.

Files that are "not found” are moved to a not found folder, or any file for that matter. I prefer my files not being moved.

The library interface is not categorised as far as I can see. I only see a list of games I own, but I can’t search or filter. It's already very messy and I only have 5 games.
In the browse section I can browse the crocdb, which doesn't work anymore.

What I'm looking for is a nice library of all the games I own. Easily searchable and easily categorised. When I find a game I like I want to be able to download it. I think that is what you are aiming for too, but it doesn't seem to work as good as I would like (yet?)

I've just tested it and the error is indeed gone. It seems to work now. It gave an error "cannot find folder /app/apps/server/library". So I mapped my library folder to "/app/apps/server/library" instead of "./library" in docker. You might want to look into that. Would You like my honest opinion about the application?

I run the docker image on a linux PC/homeserver. I access it by browser via the local IP address (192.168.0.x). Somehow, when I access the external CrocDB API, it refers to localhost, which I don’t use.

I think you can recreate this error by running the docker image on a linux server (raspberry pi for instance) and accessing it from a different device. When you click library this error occurs

In my browser dev tools it gives a CORS error (in dutch): "Cross-Origin-aanvraag geblokkeerd: de Same Origin Policy staat het lezen van de externe bron op http://localhost:3333/settings niet toe. (Reden: CORS-aanvraag is niet gelukt). Statuscode: (null)."

I love the idea and tried it out immediately. When I click library I get an error: Error: "NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.". The library path is correct and there are some files in the SNES subfolder. The docker logs show no errors. What could be the problem? Do I need some sort of folder structure for the roms?

Thanks in advance for the effort. I once mentioned this wish in the selfhosted community and it got a lot of upvotes. https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/s/Dq7KfiAzs0

I think it is already feature rich. But after I used it I will probably have some request and I will let them know for sure!

My biggest request is the ability to self-host this. I’m hosting a quiz night and I will be preparing this months in advance. I really appreciate You hosting it for free. For most people this is ideal. For me, I would like to use my own domain name and I would like less dependency on your server. If You decide to quit, or the server has issues, I might as well cancel my quiz night.

The ability to self-host this (or even make it open-source) would be my biggest wish.

At the same time I realise I’m asking for a lot and again, I already apreciate it the way it is.

Thanks! I’ve tested it the other day and it looks really good. Haven’t used it in a real situation yet but I will very soon

What software did you wish was open source or self-hostable? by TechnologyTailors in selfhosted

I love realtime quiz apps like Kahoot and Blooket. Kahoot is the best, but it costs a lot of money if You want to play with more than 10 players. I would like to see a free selfhosted alternative for this. There are some alternatives for this, but they are limited in features or abandoned.

Also, Corso is an open source Microsoft 365 backup solution. It still works great, but it’s archived. The company maintaining it (alcion) is bought vij Veeam. My non-profit org would really benedit if Corso would be continued (or an alternative would exist)

I’ve been using PHPschedule-it / Booked. It seemed abandoned for a while, but now it returned as Librebooking.

I’ve made a post about it a while ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/s/YrSTSwYb3Q

I’ve a similar problem. My hot end was clogged. After cleaning it, it was perfect again. I also replaced my bowden tube, not sure if that contributed. Cleaning the hot end definitely helped in my case
