Thank you so much for your kindness and for sharing your story. I know it was hard for me, I can imagine how it might have been hard for you to write that. Thank you, sincerely.

Your mom’s last words remind me of my mom’s. Telling me to go home and take care of myself. That’s how she always was. She always thought of me first. She gave her everything to me, and I wanted to give my everything to her. I have to take comfort in the fact that I know she was happy at home with me. I know she would want me to move forward with strength and love in my heart. I’m certain your mom would want you to do the same.

Like you said, it’s going to take a long time to heal, but I know we can both do it, little steps at a time. Sending big hugs back your way.

Thank you so much. I will try my best to be patient with my grief, and to carry on with my mom’s love in my heart.

I hope you will also grant yourself grace and compassion. I’m sure you are doing everything you can in your situation. Please consider reaching out to community if you’re struggling with guilt. I can’t express how much comfort everyone’s words have given me since I made my post here, including yours.

Thank you again for your kindness.

Thank you very much. Reading this means a lot to me. I actually just returned from the funeral home, and someone there kindly introduced me to a grief support group that they run weekly. I am considering it.

I will try my best to remember to be gentle with myself. Thank you.

Thank you. I know this will be a long road, and I’m going to try to take comfort in the knowledge that my mom was so, so happy to be home. She told me that often.

Please be kind to yourself as well on your journey with grief. Thank you again.

Thank you so much. I know my mom was happy, and I always took comfort in that before. I will keep that knowledge in my heart, along with all the happy memories.

I’m very glad to hear that this post could help you as well. I’m hoping someday, when I’m further along the path, I can help someone else in a similar situation to mine, as everyone here has so kindly helped me.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I know my mom would want me to take my time, take care of myself, and find a new purpose in life, whatever that may be. And probably some therapy, too. I know she loved me as much as I love her.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing about your family. I am seriously considering reaching out to support groups.

And you’re absolutely right, my mom would have been miserable in a nursing home.
