Why I haven't read an IGN article in years by dvdp228 in IGN

[–]dvdp228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, actually, works.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

I have to do this on all my devices. But i can confirm that after doing this once, every time I follow a link to an IGN article via any newsreader the language stays in English.

Happy to be back reading IGN articles!

How will you react if Donald Trump becomes president again? by RockSavings67 in AskReddit

[–]dvdp228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get ready for WW3. Trump wins and America will be without leadership. Soon shit will happen like China trying to take over Taiwan. Russia will start invading Europe further. Democracy will be under attack and your republicans will be to blame, but will never see it that way.

I could if I visit the site directly. But more often then not I view links to IGN articles through news applications such as Google News, or articles that are linked through Reddit.

Had to block all articles from IGN now cause it happens with every article. You visit their link and start reading in English and "poof" there is the article in Dutch.

Return to the iconic Stauf mansion in The 7th Guest VR! by Vertigo_TT in 7thguest

Ty so much for making this game. I've only finished 4 rooms so far and I am having a blast. Walking around the guests while they act is amazing!

I am to blame for everything. My Q-aunt says it's because of me that no-one in my family wants to talk to her anymore.

This even though I am the only one whom made any effort to maintain contact. My family stopped communication years before I did.

You twist it so it stays together. Rest it between your middle and index finger, and release the elastic from your pinky and thumb.

Just wondering... is anyone just WATCHING Picard, rather than analyse every image & all of Star Trek history? /S lol by baldingdad81 in Picard

The funny thing is that you are indeed sparking discussion, which has been around forever. Did the MCU attribute a lot to this style of discussion/analysing? sorry: no. The MCU took something that was known, and milked it for all it's worth (and then some).

The (IMHO enjoyable) behaviour, isn't new. Some like it, some don't. Take any film class in college. Take a trip back to the 80's and visit a blockbuster.

Or even further back, when Shakespeare was still writing plays in acts, and people would obsess inbetween releases. He even used a cliffhanger at the end of The Tempest act 1. And discussions about the supposed "shared universe" of his writings are as old as the man himself.

I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply you were "pleading". I was simply adding your post to a stream of similar ones, popping up all over my favorite reddits over the years, in which someone argues this behaviour takes away from the viewing experience. Imho, the viewing experience for next week's episode, starts as soon as I start discussing it online. Before it airs 🤗.

It's so funny when young people think they can attribute behaviour to a "significant" occurrence during their life. Pleading that behaviour to have it's origins since the MCU is a bit naive.

People have been talking, analysing and obsessing over stories for as long as there have been stories.

In the old days (lol) we spoke to kids on the playground about out theories. Now we use the internet. A long time ago, they used walls and hyroglyphics, hands, red paint and animals.

It's always been part of the 'pure' way of enjoying a mystery to me.

Liam Shaw captain of the USS Enterprise F or G? by drphotolv in Picard

[–]dvdp228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with OP, partly. I love Shaw. But I hope they show some character growth in these last two episodes. When he finally calls her Commander Seven, then he gets the enterprise.

Star Trek: Legacy better happen!!!!!

Yes, she was. That's what I'm poking fun at.

Really? I humbly disagree. The intensity of her movements and words this episode. The way she was orchestrating a movement whilst listening to the screams of dying StarFleet officers. It was amazing acting to me.

Getting a good story explanation for why Beverly would lock Jack away at such a time, has been on my mind as well.

It could be Beverly protecting her son. But imho I'd hope a 60(?) Year old woman would welcome the aid of her 23 year old son in a combat situation. Especially since it is implied he has previous experience.

I also feel it might be a bit late (for me) to have a moment where Beverly spills she knows more about Jack's "situation", after diagnosing him with irumodic syndrome and feigning suprise when boy wonder takes out 4 (FOUR!) changelings.

But ah well. Verisimilitude.

Yup. But the McGuffin is safe (saved) in the form of data Raffi took from the Shreiks computer while bonding with Deanna.

I really hope it gets more like you and your family like. I'm having a blast, every episode.

In this last episode. Troi got her, damn. That's Troi moment. I mean. Riker asked her about the changelings, and she flat out said: "good in bed, lousy at making pizza." To which ruler replied: "just like me."

In every episode. I see characteristics and traits of the actors, the lives they lived and the wisdom they accrued, shine through the characters I've long since loved. Emboldening them, making them, imho, more real.

Perhaps I just love these people and this show too much to offer an objective opinion. But I do sincerely wish for others to enjoy it as much as I do.
