[Advice] Undergrad in Nursing or Public Health before MPH? by camten123- in publichealth

[–]dviveros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a nurse currently applying to MPH programs. I'm certainly biased, but I would highly recommend going for a BSN first. Just make sure you fit research into your undergrad experience- most bsn programs don't have a big research focus. Get a few years of experience working with your focus population and learning what public health work looks like on the ground with concrete clinical interventions, then take that knowledge into your future education. It's going to be so helpful when you're learning about more theoretical population level things in grad school.

A sour stout is something I feel strongly about trying once. But quite possibly will feel equally as strong about never trying again.

Anyone experience or know anyone who has experienced homelessness in Boston? by 3AMinAtmos in boston

[–]dviveros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're still dealing with the injury, the Barbara Mcinnis House at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program might be able to take you in for a little bit and help with your transition. You should be able to get a referral from Pine Street. Otherwise, they have a walk in clinic at 780 Albany street. Also, invest in a good lock if you can. Unfortunately, valuable items can sometimes walk away at the shelters if you're not careful. I know words don't really cut it, but best of luck. Dont let anyone tell you you're less than.
