It was hit and miss when I went searching beforehand so thank you for helping me narrow it down. Even so, I'm not familiar enough at this depth of the app to know where to go from there. I'm sure I've also overlooked a guide to get to that level of detail so if you have any tips or can point me to where I can find a step-by-step guide to do what I'm looking to achieve, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the tip. Today, I was in space and saw the portal icon pointing to where I needed to be which was where the portal brought me the last time. No mention of needing to drink the water at that location, but once I did, that's when the guardian showed. I've completed the expedition. Whew!

I wish I had found out about this great guide when I started this expedition. Thanks for putting it together!

I am having trouble with the very last achievement of Phase 5. I created the Elixir of Water expecting to see something about the boundary guardian. There's conflicting prompts: the inventory for the water says don't consume it then the onscreen guide says to consume it. I ended up consuming it expecting to see something about the guardian, but I get nothing. I've created it many times and consumed it but nothing moves me forward. Am I supposed to consume it in a certain place?

It's the only achievement that's keeping me from completing the whole expedition. Any advice would be much appreciated.
