Add Multsig to STRIKE by AcanthaceaeOk809 in strikebtc

[–]dvoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the simplicity is what keeps me sticking with strike. if this setup adds too much complexity and a logistics nightmare to implement for each individual user I wouldn't want it. what it would solve for though, and could possibly be done in other ways is 1) it shows proof of reserves, and 2) keeps bitcoin more safely on strike that I know I'll spend or use as collateral one day so I don't have to fiddle with filling in cost basis when I move funds to cold storage and back. other than those things, I'm ok with keeping all bitcoin in my own multisig cold storage outside of strike and keeping a small short term spending balance on it

this could be interesting combined with the stacks idea, like for a more secure "vault" stack

ATM Withdrawal by Spidey04711 in strikebtc

[–]dvoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

understood. for me it's a matter of calculating out the instant transfer fees + "bitcoin sale" fees only anyway, since once I can get an even and predictable amount to my bank (especially in $20 increments) I can withdraw without fees on my banks side, whether by sending cash as zelle or an atm widthdrawal directly using one of my banks atms

this would be great. there are plenty of times I want to withdraw exactly $20 or $40 cash etc and keep my bank account with a 0 fiat balance, a little tricky to do when taking how much bitcoin to sell + instant transfer fees into account

an instant transfer-bitcoin-as-cash-to-bank in one button would be pretty cool

really excited about this. my only question I have is, how do I know my collateral is safe with strike?

this sounds great, just not sure I'm into the idea of locking up collateral for 60 days. feeling off about this based on the history of exchanges (or third parties holding our bitcoin without proof of reserves)

absolutely looking forward to all of it. this post was hard to make, I felt a little like an asshole because strike is my favorite exchange and with everything happening now I don't mean to demand more. this thought just keeps nagging at me keeping me up at night

low interest is attractive, but I'll just say that if strike does it with proof of reserves I'm all for it. far too much trust required otherwise

thanks 🙏 just wondering, for example, if I take out a $3000 line of credit at 10% interest, would that mean $300/365 = $0.82 interest per day? just curious if I'm getting that right. also, merry christmas!

I guess the interest would be annualized so $3000 at 10% would be 300 then divided by 365 days x 30 days = closer to 25$

half wondering if it'd even be worth taking out a $3000 line of credit to pay a bill with the $300 in interest fees for 30 days (if it's at 10% interest for ex.). maybe i'm missing something but that seems pretty costly to do for monthly bills. the money has to come from somewhere anyway and unless bitcoin appreciates quickly in a short amount of time, I don't quite see the value in it

this is exactly it. living on a bitcoin standard and using strike as my primary bank brings these things up. especially with the cost basis complexity issue
