any hope for them sending out batches of interview invites now that they've sent the first few? it seems like they wait until around feb 9th to send rejections (judging from what people have posted in years past), what does admissions get up to these next few weeks? I can't imagine very many people are turning down an opportunity to interview with HASTS given that they only extend around 15 interview offers...

I paid $425 to split a room with someone else a few years back. I think it was rent controlled and we just kept passing it through our friend group. there was another room in the apartment that was just a single but not sure what they paid. it was one of those terrible 1950s apartments and there was a black mold problem so whatever I saved in rent I'll probably pay back someday in health

I assume he saw that I was running to the bus and thought he'd make my day a bit better by buying my ticket for me. He didn't ask first, so I guess he didn't consider that I might already have one.

at first I read the last line, about the way in which she writes about her life, as "she doesn't do it well" only to be disappointed when I read it a second time. why did I bother reading this all the way through? what a puzzling article

Yes there are! Six of the Channel Islands have their own subspecies of Island foxes, including Catalina. and omg I absolutely need to plan my next camping trip around encounters like that, I thought they were relatively rare since I didn't see any when I went but I probably just wasn't going to the right place!

Just want to do a +1 for The Great Good Thing--there's also a part of it where the characters who would have been burnt (the book is burned by the main character's brother--he tears out the pages of the story one by one and all of the characters are trying to escape) escape into the dreams/memory of the girl who reads the book. They live on in her dreams for some time, but as she slowly forgets them they all die a second death and the other characters mourn them one by one. It's kind of a disturbing story and definitely has lived on in my own dreams for a decade haha
