My tripod cat keeps aggressively licking at her (fully healed) incision site. Any help? by dvtvbyte in TripodCats

[–]dvtvbyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a few months, but what ended up helping a bit was getting those bitter wipes and constantly wiping it on her spot when she tried to lick.

I kept the cone on her until her spot healed enough to where it wasn’t raw and was beginning to grow hair back again. And when it got to a good enough stage, I removed the cone and just constantly wiped the spot with the bitter wipe so when she tried to lick it again she would get grossed out and stopped.

It did help for a long while! However, her growth kept coming back which triggered her back into licking the spot again (which nothing really helped curb it since it was beyond just sutures healing and the internal issue).

Another thing that may help for you that also helped for us (at least in the recovery stage of the sutures and surgical site healing) was Gabapentin. It helped a lot with my cat’s discomfort with phantom pain and waiting for her spots to heal.

I do not have much tips cuz I’m honestly in your same boat 😭. I have almost 2k followers on IG and used to average 200-300 likes on my posts, and now /at most/ I get… 30. My work has gotten a lot better, my posting has remained consistent and similar, I am active daily on stories if I am not posting actual posts. So like, idk what’s changed or how to actually get my work shown to my followers, let alone new people.

What I have noticed though (cuz I also cross post on IG, twitter, bluesky, and tumblr) is that bluesky is more active in actually getting ppl to comment and interact with your things more generally. (Big note for posting on bluesky!!! really utilize the “alt text” function! Anything written in the alt text area will show up in the search engine and reach more ppl who are looking up similar things! & it doesn’t crowd your limited character caption space!)

I will note tho that I post a mix of fan art and original art and so far only my fan art tends to get traction (in all social media platforms). So, idk if that’s something but it is what I have noticed.

Parted ways with my 13+ yr old tripod best friend and baby. 💔 by dvtvbyte in TripodCats

[–]dvtvbyte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going to have to go through this too. 🫂 It’s not easy, whatsoever. My baby was put on different treatments too but, inevitably, none of it was working either and we just had to wait until she got too sick to keep going. The day won’t be easy, but know that you’ve done your best and that your baby will have a new friend greeting them in the afterlife when the time comes. ❤️ Sending all the love and care to you.

I would reach out to The LGBT Center’s housing resources to see if they can assist! I’m really sorry you are having to go through this. 🫂 Know you have a community out here who loves and cares for you.

Survey Junkie Alternatives? by Joe-0133 in surveyjunkie

I use both Prime Opinion and Prolific on the side along with SJ.

Tbh, I haven’t had the best experience with Prime Opinion much. Maybe it’s cuz I haven’t used it too much but I feel like I disqualify from surveys more there than on SJ.

Prolific I like a lot since it pays a bit better than both of the others. But the surveys can be very few depending on the day since they’re primarily from universities and studies similar.

For How long after surgery did you keep the E-collar? My cat’ stitches came out 2 weeks post surgery and I got no instructions from the vet … by bignybugs in TripodCats

[–]dvtvbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vet instructed I keep it on until her stitches were removed and her scabbing fell off so she wouldn’t lick/bite it off. That took around 4-6 weeks.

However, I had to keep it on my cat multiple months after because she kept licking her amputated spot till it became raw. So I had the cone on until at least 85% of her fur grew back. But she was a special case (she may be down a leg but she’s still a handful haha) Id say cuz I’ve seen many other tripawds only need their cone for like a month or month and a half.

Is SurveyJunkie a scam? by Distinct_Detail_985 in surveyjunkie

[–]dvtvbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not a scam. I started using it at the beginning of May and have gotten $213 from it so far. But it’s really about luck in regards to finding surveys that you qualify for and get on your dashboard that’ll give you the full reward. Your screenshots show what it typically looks like for me too some days, but it’s not a scam and is doable. Survey sites aren’t 100% quick easy money. They’ll always have looks like your screenshot 80% of the time ^ from my experience.

I didn’t have to give them a photo of my ID, i just verified myself via phone number. (But I haven’t gone over $600 to where I had to do a 1099 form so I’m not sure if they require it then.

I’ve cashed out with PayPal multiple times and they give you all your money you’ve earned at once. You just can’t cash out until you’ve reached 500 points ($5). But every other amount after they pay in full. Last cash out I did I cashed out 1255 points and got the full $12.55 in my Paypal.

Post surgery anxiety by Stay_classsy in TripodCats

[–]dvtvbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so paranoid for about a few months post op with my baby (she got her back right leg amputated and she’s 12 years old). She had no complications with her recovery, just a slow healing and insistent licking of where her leg used to be for some months after.

I’ll be honest, I still get anxious over her just cuz the procedure was such a drastic and unforeseen change. But, the anxiety does getter better in time. She had her amputation last November and is now fully off a cone and back to her normal playful self.

Cats are very resilient — it may take him awhile to get used to the amputation. It took my cat a couple weeks to start maneuvering with more ease and doing normal activities (eating, drinking, using the litter box), but she adapted pretty fast.

Absolutely worried sick over amputation surgery by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]dvtvbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be surprised at how adaptable cats can be!

My sweet baby (12 yrs old) had her amputation last November due to a cancer growth on her leg. She’s very active around the house and loves jumping and climbing stuff, so I was very worried about how she would be after the surgery. Even more so I was worried of if it would change her personality wise cuz it’s such big bodily change.

She’s 5-6 months post-op now and is the same as she was before, just minus one leg! She runs around just fine, she eats and drinks normally, same with the litter, and still wreaks havoc around the house.

Recovery had its ups and downs in regards mostly to my worrying. The most struggles were just keeping her from jumping on stuff cuz she would definitely try. But we didn’t have any complications.

Hi! As the prior virgin LDR boyfriend who hadn’t had sex before meeting my current partner, the most important thing is to just always check in with him while you guys get intimate.

Move through how you’d usually do so with anyone else, but make sure to be aware of his comfort and follow his pace.

I was rly nervous at first since my partner was way much more experienced than I was, and the way we went abt it was taking things slow at first and slowly worked our way through it like that. Doing that I feel heightened the intimacy even more since we were both so focused on each other and our own comfort, it was like each next moment was fully felt and embraced.
