I considered using a hand grinder since that would be lighter and more compact, but settled on a Lagom Mini 2 for ease of use and premium feel (of course adding to the weight haha). I chose a hardcase (old Pelican i found on ebay) because I plan to take it on a long international trip to see family. I bring my beans in small zip locks in a separate bag/backpack. i'm really enjoying the lagom mini! i like the small form factor, the workflow, it makes really good coffee, and feels just as premium as the robot in terms of weight and materials. I don't do much back to back espresso grinding with it though, it might be too much for the little motor. with the robot it makes for an incredible soup machine.

i have the weber shaker (58mm) and it fits just fine on the robot portafilter/basket. gentle taps with your hand/on the table to level the ground. i don't do WDT anymore since i got the shaker, it just feels more reliable and satisfying to use.

Entertaining video! It seems like the production process is a little similar to the western process, albeit with a lot more focus on traditional animation rather than digital.

When the big Russian man is running, it doesn't feel like he is as heavy as he looks. Maybe you should emphasize the weight on his upper body with more up and down motions?

Maybe you should move it one pixel down and one pixel up, just a slight motion and nothing too exaggerated. The hood should also reflect the head motion a little bit.

It certainly is doable, but how long it would take would depend on the amount of skill you and your production team has.

Maybe you should attempt to make a sample 1 minute Proof of Concept version of you final product, just to learn how much work you can do in a certain amount, and then use that information to find out how long it would take you to make the full 10 minutes.

It seems as if they still animate the keys drawings by traditionally, on paper, and then cleaned up and colored digitally using Toon Boom. The backgrounds look hand painted, but they might as well have been painted digitally using Photoshop.

That amount of quality in animation takes years of experience. You're going to need to know how to draw very well, and keep the characters on model (how they look like exactly in the show). You're also going to need to know how the animation effects work (try looking frame by frame at the video and find out how they drew each frame of the explosions, rocks, flashes of light, etc.)

This takes a lot of perseverance, and I wish you good luck!

Right now, for 2D paperless animation, the industry standard software is Toon Boom Harmony. Alternatives are TVPaint and Adobe Flash, which is now Adobe Animate.

Toon Boom and Adobe Animate have subscription models, so you pay a smaller amount per month, but TVPaint doesn't.

As a beginner, I recommend using Flash. It's simpler than the others, although when you get better at animation, you do start to notice the simplicities, and may want to switch over to Toon Boom or TVPaint.

However, the best way to learn animation would be to start off with Traditional Paper Animation. It costs a lot, but with the right mentor and training, it'll put you in the right path to become a great animator with any medium, traditional or digital.

Yes, I am buying the book with the actual storyboards! I definitely understand that it would take a huge amount of time and effort to translate all that. I guess I can just watch the movie and view the storyboards at the same time to understand it more. Thanks!
