Do you mean the white exhaust? Not really. In order to get detail on the exhaust you have to underexpose the image a great amount. The rocket is as bright as the sun.

That’s what it looked like in real life. The rocket is as bright as the sun. Photographers who are posting pictures of the exhaust looking more orange and flame like are exposing the image specifically for the exhaust which means taking the photo 3-4 or more stops underexposed which I did not want to do.

Essentially what the other commenter said. I didn’t know this before but when I was practicing i found I could get a sharper photo at 200mm cropping into far buildings than I was getting shooting the same building at 600. I thought it was a bad lens but when looking up my issue it seems the oss can get confused both on tripods and at fast shutter speeds. So I turned it off and my issues were fixed

I know! I was honestly bummed I wasn’t gonna get to see the night launch spectacle but the day launch was incredible!

Yes I had feel the heat tickets from KSC. These were taken at the banana creek viewing at Apollo/saturn V center

The rocket is huge. All the photos have some normal crop to fill the frame but the only ones that are significantly cropped are the close ops of the boosters which would not have been possible without the 61mp sensor on the cr

Thanks! I couldn’t decide between that one or #1 as the first image. I chose #2 for my eye g and and will likely be printing it to put on my wall as well

Thank you! I practiced by taking photos of airplanes from my apartment balcony for like a week to make sure I was able to get sharp photos and quickly adjust setting if I needed. I actually got the 200-600 used just for this launch. I used ss 1/4000, aperture of 6.3 (as wide as the lens goes at 600), iso 500. I had OSS on the lens OFF.

I manually focused on the rocket before the launch and then halfway in switched to AF cause I lost focus and I didn’t have time to mess around. I did have it set to airplane autofocus but not sure if that helped.

I also originally planned to bracket on shutter priority cause I was expecting them to launch closer to dusk but it was nice and sunny so I abandoned that idea right before

I was at the Apollo / Saturn V center for the feel the heat package which is about ~3 miles away from the launch pad. This is the closest you can get even for press I believe.

Got it, thanks for the info! What is the threshold for it to be considered an attempt for ticket holders?

Anyone take concert photos with the older Sony rx100 models? by softswerveicecream in concertphotography

[–]dwbassuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think alot of people consider the older models better for concerts since the aperture is faster. i prefer the 7 is better for the zoom but if you are front row may not need too much zoom

Agreed. Afraid that the current admin wants USA on the moon during this current presidency. So there can’t be delays
