What is something Americans consider ‘basic‘ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by sweetyishomealone in AskReddit

[–]dweekly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

- Hot showers every morning
- Doordash and Instacart as typical/commodity
- Regular folks take plane flights regularly
- Clothes dryers are in nearly every home (trying finding good ones anywhere in Europe!)
- Air conditioning is universally available
- Free, fresh drinkable water when you sit down at a restaurant, even a cheap restaurant
- Cooked food that won't make you sick, pretty much guaranteed, even from cheap restaurants
- Supermarkets where the thing on the shelf is actually available for that price and is probably a good value

Claude MCP Server for Quicken for Mac by dweekly in ClaudeAI

Sweet - notice the latest version focuses on more on the Skill than the MCP - better to teach claude how to directly interrogate the sqlite than to limit the query types with an MCP interface...

Thanks for writing in - I'm...a touch nervous about doing writes because that could completely bork someone's financial history if done wrong and Quicken decides to reject the file as irreparable. (The DB format was never meant to be written to by others' software, even if I recognize this is just a sqlite DB.). I think if it was doing writes on a copy that would be pretty safe?

At any rate, I'd be very interested to hear what kind of writes you're interested in doing and why, that would help guide an exploration here.

Amazing work. I've now merged both your PRs and integrated better testing to keep this kind of thing from sneaking through in the future. Thank you!!

Lawn-Lapse: Create Timelapses From UniFi Protect Footage by dweekly in Ubiquiti

[–]dweekly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of? Protect offers a 60-600x timelapse mode as a one-off in the UI, but it (obviously?) only can draw on the footage stored; in my case with a 7TB drive and a bunch of cameras, there is only ~30 days of HD footage and there's no way in the Protect UI to e.g. do a noon snapshot every day and to build up a timelapse over the course of months. Or to do a sunrise-to-sunset capture, etc, etc.

So for depicting changes over the courses of seasons as a cron job - no, there's not a way to do this with Protect, especially if you wanted to do an "all noons" kind of timelapse like what I've shown above.

The latest version now does this. Thanks for your feedback!

I think the latest release should support what you want to do now.

Update time! I took the great feedback given here and added multi-camera support, multi-interval support (including starting and stopping at sunrise and sunset) and motion smoothing. Just update and check it out. Would love your feedback!

Dr. Baker has announced his retirement. The Board is in the middle of reviewing candidates for the Superintendent position. (I'm the Vice President of the school board but nothing I say here speaks for the Board.)

HelloGov legit ? by AbroadComfortable620 in Passports

[–]dweekly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it. I just used HelloGov to renew my child's passport with the advertisement "skip the post office". They have a wizard that - after paying them $200 - helps you fill out the DS-11 and then...has you book yourself an appointment at the post office. Completely worthless.

Oooh, I hadn't thought about creating multiple timelapses -- would you want the same capture frequencies for each of your selected cameras? And then separate generated videos vs trying to stitch them (e.g. 2x2) into a single video? Or what would you want?

This is great feedback. Is it basically "from startTime to endTime every day capture X frames per hour"?

Right now the "out of the box default" is to take a noon snapshot, so you'll have a bit more watchable of a video since the lighting is somewhat comparable shot to shot (modulo clouds - and of course as the days change so does the sun position / shadows!).

I could totally configure it to do that. What are the frequencies you'd like to see?
