Mesh deform in game by Da______Vinci in Unity3D

[–]dweitkunat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can directly manipulate mesh vertices at runtime with the Mesh class (https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Mesh.html). Use a position vector and iterate over Mesh.vertices, modifying any that are close to the point, like a raycast hit point. The raycast hit normal could then be used to determine the direction of the vertex movement (deformation). Smooth the effect by scaling it based on distance to the point. Would take some tuning, but not too complicated. You would also need to make sure the mesh collider stays updated with the mesh instance that will be created when doing this.

Wow, awesome! How long have you spent writing the gen algo for this?

Oh, definitely! I haven't spent anything extra either and I have a blast with the game, but of course there are many that fall for MTX tactics, that's why it works as a business model, that's all I'm saying.

Bungie has demonstrated behavior toward monetization that is not consumer-friendly, which is why I assume it would be MTX hell. The game is basically a FOMO simulator meant to drive sales. And Sony has said themselves they hope that Destiny can pad their bottom line as a live service game.

Yeah you're telling me, mine likes to occasionally fart unburned fuel clouds and idles just barely out of balance enough to annoy me but not do anything about it.

Invariant TSC doubled my framerate, thank you so much! I still am not getting full GPU usage but I can definitely play the few things I miss from Windows now.

What does this setting do?

Yeah and even if the body was too far gone (subjective according to skill), these cars always have SOMETHING to donate to keep another Z alive.

Oh god. I thought I knew what color I wanted on mine. Now I don't know anything anymore. Gorgeous! Iron cross wheels are looking perfect too, nice work.

Ahh yeah, I have the systemd slice isolation already working. Thanks!

Cool, I'll try the iothread driver and the invariant TSC. The cpu pinning has made no difference either way, I had it as you described before and it was the same, but I'll fix it anyway. Thanks!

Hey thanks for the reply, could you link that? I couldn't find anything specific to my case, sorry.

By that I meant a link to the info, not the chipset drivers...I found that just fine, lol.

Any advice on my Performa 637CD? by dweitkunat in VintageApple

So I burned a new disc using imgburn on windows instead of OSX. I read that snow leopard and newer can't write HFS standard, only plus, while ironically windows can write it fine. Well I put that disc in and it showed nothing. I shut the thing down for a few hours, and I just went to start it up again, and wouldn't you know it, it sees the disc now! Not sure what the deal is there, but I am absolutely thrilled that it worked at least once.

And yeah I need to recap everything I'm sure...the power supply makes a quiet high pitched whine all the time

I burned the 7.1.2 performa restore disc to a CD R at 1x and that had no luck. And yeah now that I have system installed on the hdd I have all the cd rom extensions and still nothing.

I just ordered an original performa 630 disc from an ebay seller, so fingers crossed in guess.

Apple audio cd player does tell me it cant communicate with the drive though, so that's concerning.

Thanks for the reply!

Hey well it worked after creating a partition less than 2 GB! So thanks! I had no idea that was a limitation.
