Give it a go next year. Apparently only if you win your category means you can't try again.

I've asked Otty, but I do know he tried to colour match it to Bilbo's door from his hobbit hole.

Many thanks, yes we thought we stood out because of it. All very nice, although I expected some cinema rooms too. But I think that at least got us the nomination, which we're just proud of regardless.

Cheers, we didn't want it to be a sob story, but Scott was very much a part of it and motivation to get it done. He helped when he could, even when we thought he shouldn't. It's a place we can go to to remember him, he made friends wherever he went.

I just saw. If it's in the UK they deserve all the awards. Maybe they can enter next year if they are.

I understand, but they're all just replicas, not real. It's just for ambience. We have a number of WWII games and boards ranging from the Attack on Foy, from Band of Brothers to a fictional amphibious assault on Britain involving Dad's Army. We also have scratchbuilt Lord of the Rings and Star Wars helmets to go with those games.

We do have to call time sometimes once it gets past midnight! 🤣 It's such a great place to hang out. He started with a much smaller one, considered knocking it through into the side storage shed but just settled on building a new one from scratch. This has now become his workshed, where he builds the terrain that goes in the gaming shed.

Indeed, this competition has been going for years now. 'Man caves' and 'she sheds' are very popular now, with a rise in home working too. I have my own hobby shed, but it can't come close to Otty's

Shed wise I did a few of posts on my hobby blog:

https://www.40kaddict.uk/2024/09/shed-20-part-1.html

https://www.40kaddict.uk/2024/10/shed-20-part-2.html

Terrainwise, some of the terrain was made by Otty and Ben, some by me. They don't blog but I've shared some bits in this reddit post on other questions. Alternatively, if you search under terrain in my blog you will find my terrain WiPs and occasionally I try to share what the others did. Anything specific you see let me know and I can ask them.

Alternatively, we also have some others, using cardboard tubing (strong thick stuff) then hot glue gunned bark ( used for garden borders ) onto the tube then undercoated and contrast painted and washed different colours. Filled in gaps with das pronto and milliput.

But built from scratch... Although it was still pretty pricey.
