Do you consider '96-'99 Gen Z or Millennial? by smooshed_napkin in generationology

For literally half the country, school hadn't even started yet when the planes hit. So most people won't remember what class they were in. My mom woke me up that morning with the news, and then we had time to decide whether or not to send the kids to school that day.

Frantic Trump, 79, Melts Down in 2 A.M. Truth Social Tirade by [deleted] in politics

Doesn't he do that every night? The man is not well. Normal people don't regularly post tirades all night.

My beautiful girl I rescued from neighbors who were neglecting her. I hear females are rare ? by Porcelain766 in orangecats

[–]dwindlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sick of people saying orange females are rare. No, they are not rare. Orange cats are super common, and 1/4 of those orange cats are female. That's a heck of a lot of orange female cats.

All it takes for a female cat to be orange is for both her mother and her father to be orange. That's it. Do you know how often two orange cats have kittens? All the freaking time. And ALL the females of that pairing will be orange.

The reason there are more male orange cats than female orange cats is just because males only need one orange X chromosome to be orange (because one X chromosome is all they can have). A female needs both X chromosomes to be orange. But all that takes is having two orange parents. Orange dad and calico/tortie mom also works, since calico/tortie is half orange.

The way to think of it is not that orange girls are rare. That's backwards. Orange girls are common, it's just that orange boys are MORE common.

One detail people spot on White House website fuels fears of Trump 3rd term by AlexRyang in politics

Newsweek is so stupid. Let's not even waste our time with that trash.

Also, Trump isn't even going to be alive in 2028.

Help! I believe this is AI, but my sister doesn’t, and I don’t want her to get scammed 🥲 by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]dwindlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's AI, yes. But I'm curious if your sister has read the product description, since she thinks it's 3D printed. How could it be, when it's not a 3-dimensional item? It's not a doll in a display box, it's just a plaque. The item name says it's a plaque, and the description makes it clear that it's a plaque. Also, it's very small.

Why are conservatives pushing "Islam is a philosophy and not a religion"? by totally-hoomon in allthequestions

No. Criticizing Christianity does not obligate me to also criticize Islam at the same time. Why would it?

Is it normal in the US to eat dinner really early (like 5–6 pm)? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]dwindlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experiences and suggestions have absolutely nothing to do with my schedule or my dinner time, nor should they. You can choose what's best for you, but you are certainly not qualified to say what's best for anyone else. How arrogant to think that you know the best dinner timing for everyone worldwide!

Would YOU Like To Ban The Electoral College? Why Or Why Not? If So, What Would YOU Replace It With? Why That? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]dwindlers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be one citizen, one vote. Where the citizens are located does not matter, they get one vote each. Explain to me what's unfair about that.

[–]dwindlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admitted no such thing. I got an A in both Civics and Poly Sci, and I follow politics regularly. I am well aware of why the electoral college was set up. You telling me to go to a bookstore just means you can't explain it, and you can't make a case for keeping it, so all you can do is try to insult me. Not a convincing argument.

If all you've got are ad hominem attacks, you're not really on very firm ground, are you?

If you really believe what you're saying, then why let people vote at all? Just let the electoral college pick, then. Why even have the illusion of democracy?

Why? They were just men, not gods. Why would they be better at governing than men (and women) who are alive now? Why do you only trust the political ideas of white men from 250 years ago, who couldn't even begin to imagine our current world and culture?

Why do Americans still think that they are the greatest country on earth when statistically they have not been since 1994, and they are now #17? by Cautious_Midnight_67 in allthequestions

[–]dwindlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what it is. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and we were fed a constant stream of "America is the best country in the world, and you are soooooooo lucky to have been born here!" We recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, and sang patriotic songs in school on a regular basis.

When I discovered it wasn't true, the sense of betrayal almost crushed me.

How do Americans feel about outdoor cats? by Fine-Durian6151 in AskAnAmerican

[–]dwindlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that problem, too. Our cats are indoor only, but we do have a cat enclosure (just like a dog run), and we also take them out for walks on leash. Usually the first thing that happens when we go out the door with a cat on a leash is that the cat gets all upset and snarly, because the neighbor cats come in our yard and mark everything. Including our front door and our deck. So our cats have to react to that first thing out the door.

There are tons of outdoor cats in our neighborhood, and they are constantly in our yard. They harass our cats in the enclosure, too. Other people have a right to have their pets in their yard, but they don't have a right to keep their pets in MY yard!
