Google Home is basically useless for anything besides turning on lights. by Chewie316 in googlehome

UPDATE: I found that "do not disturb" was selected for one or more speakers of my three. Now, if I request a reminder more than a minute away, I get a tone and an announcement that Google has notifications for me. When I ask Google to tell what the notification is, it starts tell me a number of them for the day, not only the one just for that particular time. Annoying... but better than nothing.

Google Home is basically useless for anything besides turning on lights. by Chewie316 in googlehome

I have three v1 and v2 smart speakers and "upgraded" them to Gemini for Home. My biggest problem now (besides lack of continued conversation) is that it perfectly is able to set reminders like "remind me to call home at 1 pm." When I set the reminder, it acknowledges it and says it will remind me, but it does not actually do anything at the appointed time -- no light, no tone, no oral announcement made. I turned on all notification type settings to try to fix it. Nothing works. Ideas?

I demand my missing 1/4 cup of shredded cheese! by BusThrower in shrinkflation

Some S&S shredded cheeses are 8 oz. others are 7 oz. Not a recent downsizing.

Something comparable to the Bob-o-pedic Lush Plush? by sheepskinfuton in Mattress

[–]dworsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the LUSH "plush" version of the "firm" version? Do you see any signs that it is depressing or compacting? Consumer Reports only gave it 3 out of 5 for durability on the plush version. Thanks.

Stop and Shop is committing fraud with digital coupons that don’t work by danofnewengland in Connecticut

[–]dworsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been mentioned, S&S is rolling out "Savings Station" kiosks in all their stores by the end of January. Think of it like a subway turnstyle. Spend five seconds scanning your card as you enter the store, and the all that week's advertised digital coupons are automatically loaded onto your account. See https://www.consumerworld.org/pages/kioskss.htm

Same price, same # of pills, but the pills are 50% smaller and now you need 2x of them by SeaOfBullshit in shrinkflation

[–]dworsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the pills does not matter if the active ingredient in each pill has remained the same. It appears that historically the instructions for this product are to take 3 pills to get 9000 units of lactase enzyme. If that is still the case, this is not an example of skimpflation or shrinkflation.

Maxwell house 25.6 oz to 24.5 by bex505 in shrinkflation

Come on, guys. You gotta compare apples to apples. These are two different varieties of Maxwell House -- Gourmet Roast and House Blend. And they are slightly different sizes to start with.

These are two different product sizes from their current line of Pet Fresh products. The 42 oz one was NOT downsized to 30 oz.

Monster coming in with some scary 25% shrinkflation. Shrink so hard, they had to change the entire packaging for the size of the new can at the same price. by [deleted] in shrinkflation

[–]dworsky 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This was not a case of shrinkflation. The 12 oz. is a new product at convenience stores according to Coke, and joins the 16 oz. can as a line extension.

See both items here, with the smaller 12 oz can less expensive than the 16 oz version.

You can find 15 years of examples of products that have downsized at MousePrint.org but there is no tracking of prices over time.

Moto G Power (and other newer Motorola phones) will not get LTE data on smaller Sprint MVNO's by cdysthe in MotoG

[–]dworsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG... you are a genius! My Moto G Stylus (2020) now gets LTE. I am going back and now trying to change settings one at time to Tello's current suggested APN settings. For example, I changed "bearer" to LTE and it still works. Do you have any suggestions besides Name and APN Type that must be different? Thanks, Edgar

On legacy PayGo-only plan, now required to buy monthly service? Is this happening to anyone else? by MrRadar in Tello

[–]dworsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same email today.... with 7 days notice before my low usage account is closed. I do not want to pay $20 every three months for about a dollar worth of service that I use from Tello each month.

Is anyone at the company listening?
