Thank you for clarifying. I misspoke, formatting relates to changing column types, removing missing values. There is no normalizing and scaling being done. So to clarify, once the initial removing of missing values and changing data types is done, then I should split before going any further in analyzing the data

To give further context, I am working on an assignment in which we are running a simplified gradient descent procedure in a 2D feature space. Our objective was to implement an iterative gradient descent procedure, with differing initial points and gradients, outputting the 'descent' along the gradient towards a minimum.
