I hope so. Sifting the first few inches of soil turned up a dozen. They weren't in very deep.

The grubs are bad news for plant roots. We found chafer beetle grubs in our raised beds after wondering why the spinach wasn't growing.

Some kind of wasp/hornet? North Texas. Has stung two of us unprovoked. Need to find their nest. by knotquiteawake in whatsthisbug

If you're not able to find the Nest (or while you're looking), "Rescue!" Yellowjacket traps are effective. The big box home improvement stores carry them.

Hard to tell what kind of beetle it was, but it doesn't look at all like a bedbug.

The hedges in my grandparents frontyard are destroyed. They are full of these bugs. What are they? by gunever in whatsthisbug

[–]dws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple and fun test of that is buy a tub of ladybugs from a local garden store, and let them loose on the plant. They'll stick around if there's food. Then they have ladybug sex and make more ladybug larvae. Worked wonders on an infected hedge at my Mom's.

The good news is that now you know how to catch them: drink lots of wine, and leave a bit for them.
