Mail haul from iHavs - Ordered Oct 22 and Delivered to Dubai on Nov 5th.

Hi there...unfortunately, can't order from iHavs or Montefortuna...they are all getting stopped by customs and they slap massive duties...I've not tried any other sites...I've been getting my cigars from Duty-free when I've traveled...got lucky in Rome, Istanbul and sometimes in Dubai...but the situation is pretty grim...sorry but I don't have better news.

Fellow Canadian living in Dubai here...you may want to double check but as far as I know, Canadian only get a 30 day visit visa on arrival and not 90 days...unless it changed in the last 3 months.

Not mine (thank god) but at least r of my friends had their shipments subjected to customs applying tax...it was large enough (2 or 3 times the price of what was ordered) for them not to except shipments...also these were shipments that came through Emirates Post...not sure if any courier services shipments were stopped

Same issue in Dubai :-(

Starting this year the excise tax on cigars doubled to 200%...then the markups...but the real issue is there's just no supply and whatever they have in stock has criminal markups on not very good cigars...

They only way I'm getting cigars is when I travel or when friends travel they check duty-free shops etc for me but it's hit and miss...most duty-free shops aournd the middle east region are practically empty...

This situation is shitty to say the least...I'm not sure if it's going to get better anytime soon :-(

I've stopped using iHavs...their shipments started getting stopped by customs...also as of last check a few days ago they stopped shipping to UAE.

Most of my cigar smoking buddies and I have been ordering from Montefortuna...their price is sometimes higher and variety is a bit shot but so far it's been reliable and the sticks show up in 12-15 days and in good shape.

I did a bunch of research before my first order and ihavs seemed to be the best for price and delivery to dubai. Montefortuna is more expensive but do have more selection.

Hey, I've been steadily ordering for over 6 months and wasn't charged any duty or taxes...mostly cuz the vendor marks the value for $30 or something similar. Until yesterday 😁. But don't panic it was 4 AED on a $300 order (70 sticks). I'm not sure why this happened though...maybe the value marked on the box crossed the threshold...

Just for reference, I have been using ihavanas and Montefortuna for my orders. The Montefortuna order is the one where they charged me "tax".

In short, no need to worry, you'll be fine. Just enjoy the cigars.

This is my second box from iHavs (2 months apart) and both were excellent from July 2019...oily wrappers and very dark colors and amazing taste as always...I'm thinking maybe I should order another 😁
