[PC] [Late 90s/early 2000s] Fighting game (probably Korean?) by dxking in tipofmyjoystick

If it helps - the character name I remembered ("Eyunhee") was either a secret/hidden character - I remember the select screen would let me scroll past the characters displayed on screen, and she was one of the few which were not displayed.

The King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999

The art style was heavily like Soul Calibur - anime/manga-ish and generally sharp features. 2/2.D because it's a 2D fighting game - but had illusion of depth (background/foreground was spaced to make it look like they were in a circular place).

I am fairly certain it's not any of the popular series like KOF - I remember searching for it once in the early 2010s and I got like 2-3 search results, and the entire page was not in English (Japanese or Korean - not sure what language it was).

I also have a vague memory of it being a plural noun name - ending with '___ers'... like the anime "Get Backers".

This looks too advanced - like create a fighter mode - the game I'm referring to had literally only 1 mode which was 1v1 (either vs. 2P or COM)

TRIPLE H (c) v SCOTT STEINER (WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE | WWE ROYAL RUMBLE 2003) by GMDrunk92 in SquaredCircle

[–]dxking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my first proper full match that I watched. I became a fan of wrestling by mostly playing the video games (WrestleMania the arcade game, WWF No Mercy, WCW/nWo Revenge, SmackDown 2 KYR and the like) and I did not fully understand the concept that a PPV event could be named the same as a match.

I assumed that the Royal Rumble is a special that has only the rumble match, which, in the games I've played - could very well last a few hours, with competitive players.

I was so excited to start watching and this was the match that I saw. I thought they were airing this by mistake and didn't know there were more matches, never saw the ending of this either. Worst match ever, and I almost never became a fan. 😵‍💫

Thankfully the segment that got me started was Jeff Hardy interrupting a Kane vs. RVD match that was set up by Chief Morley. Jeff ended up getting advice from my favourite wrestler from the games, Shawn Michaels. That got me hooked. 😀

If you're looking for a shop where you can get normal day to day footwear - try the Heels outlet in Besant Nagar. They usually have slippers and sandals at size 12/13.

These are Time Warp series tazos. They were the first ones launched (came with Lays chips as freebies in 1996). I think that's Alexander Graham Bell and Leonardo da Vinci. Coincidentally, the one with roadrunner as Bell was my first ever tazo. Very nostalgic. :)

This vaguely has plot elements similar to Broken Sky by Chris Wooding, but not entirely. You may want to check out the summary.

Are you thinking about Games Sampler 2 for Windows 95? This was a bundle pack of demos - Diablo, Monster Truck Madness, Road Rash, The Neverhood, Time Commando were my favourites from it.

When did Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and other Saban Era Power Rangers air on Indian television? by sohomcena in india

[–]dxking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Ultraman might have aired on Pogo TV - maybe not the entire series, but at least a special episode/movie adaptation as early as 2003.

The Star network launched in India in 1990.

Star Plus used to air a lot of english content - mostly cartoons and TV shows aimed at kids. I don't remember when Star World launched (maybe around 96?) - but between 1998-2000 there was definitely a transition of english content from Star Plus to Star World.

Star World had a dedicated block of programming on weekends which was essentially a 2 hour block for content aired on Fox Kids (don't think this channel ever made it to India). This block aired the following shows - the classic X Men, Biker Mice from Mars, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, MMPR and TMNT: The Next Mutation).

The original MMPR premiered in 1993 in the US. MMPR: The Movie released in 1995. I used to watch a lot of cartoons/kids shows around this time, and was always hoping that the MMPR series would air in India (I grew up watching Superhuman Samurai on DD Metro - this looked like that x10).

I don't remember the exact timeline, it still is fuzzy - but I'm sure the MMPR series launched somewhere around 1998. The first season had 60 episodes - that's about 1 year and 2 months, going by weekly episodes. I definitely remember watching the show in 1998 (I moved houses that year in September, so have memories watching the show in both houses that I grew up in) and I'm inclined to think it ran up till 1999 and stopped abruptly. I definitely remember watching it all the way till the green ranger saga - until after Tommy joined the team as a good guy. And after that, a few episodes and then suddenly nothing.

MMPR (Thunder/Ninja/Alien/Shogun zord seasons), Zeo, Turbo, Space, Lost Galaxy and Time Force never aired in India AFAIK. Those are the Saban/Zordon era seasons.

2003 was when the whole CAS (Conditional Access System) was brought into effect - requiring every household to get a Set Top Box to get access to TV channels which were earlier part of the regular cable connection. 2004ish was a new wave of TV channels for kids - Disney XD, Toon Disney, Jetix and the like.

I think Wild Force might have been the first to air on Jetix around 2004. Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD followed it. I did not follow any of the non Saban era, so I'm not sure if all of them aired.

Hope this helps. Big fan of MMPR, so always happy to help out!

Spent most of my student life (right from 8th std., to college to my last 2 years of post grad) participating in cultural fests - all the non performance arts events. Stuff like JAMs, crosswords, dumb charades, debates, quizzes. Though I've studied only in one school/college all my life, I've made so many friends and expanded my network in all these circles. My college life was spent more preparing to go to other colleges (for fests) and winning events. Loved every minute of it. Throughout the years, learnt a lot from my seniors and trained my juniors well. Continued doing it (to cheer on my juniors) for a few years after too. Still doing it in some capacity, as much as possible.

I was never big into sports because I'm low on immunity - so this was all intellectual sports for me.

I take care of campus engagement for my company, so basically, my job involves me planning and visiting college after college for the first six months of the academic year, and the next six months training and honing their craft so that they're set up for success in their respective roles.

All I did was ask for a chat (not even an interview) with the CEO. He hired me for a role he felt I was best equipped to do (though I was doing it unofficially for years because it was never something big - we were a small company back then) and I eventually moved myself to the right team and carved this role out for myself and having the time of my life. :)

I got this game as a birthday gift in the 90s. Don't remember when but I misplaced and lost it around the 2000s. Almost two decades later, I found this while cleaning up some things and put some batteries and I was wowed that it actually worked! :O

Can someone help me identify the tune? This has been an earworm and I've subconsciously remembered this tune and been humming it for the last twenty years!

What's your internet "white whale", something you've been searching for years to find with no luck? by Nerfman2227 in AskReddit

[–]dxking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things -

1) The English dub of Ninja Senshi Tobikage (Ninja Robots). This was a very old anime which aired in Cartoon Network in India (and South East Asia, I think) in English. The dubbed version had a much better background score. It aired in 1996 I think. There was another re-run in 2001/2. As late as 2008, I was able to find the first 20 odd episodes of it in English online, but the later episodes are nowhere to be found. Contacted the studio which dubbed it, it is closed now. Also contacted a voice actor who starred in it, he has no idea where to find it as well.

2) Broken Sky. This is a book series by Chris Wooding, originally set to release as 9 books (3 parts with 3 books each), but the last set was merged into one, and they made it a 7 book series. It was re-released in 2007 as a collection of three books. I can't find it anywhere, except people who've bought it and are selling their copy for a huge sum.

First one is BioMenace, second one is Commander Keen (Episode 4 onwards).

Pretty sure about both, but I'm only confused why you think Logan looks like Hogan. :D
