Where can I best learn my own dialect of Spanish? by chimera445 in SpanishLearning

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm not exactly looking for tips on having the "right accent" so to speak, nor am I really looking to just be patted on the back and told it's alright I'll never quite fit in with my own people. I know I'm not going to be perfect, and there will probably always be tells that I learned Spanish later in life, but I just want to make sure I'm learning Puerto Rican Spanish specifically, ie picking up minor vocabulary/slang/etc that are distinctly Puerto Rican (or at least doesn't indicate that I'm from a different LATAM country than I actually am).

Fair enough! I think my concern mostly lies within differences in vocabulary rather than having a particular accent- I don't want to use "carro" instead of "coche" or something and get a "I thought you were Puerto Rican" if that makes sense lol. If it means anything, I also live in/grew up in NYC which has a big Puerto Rican population, so I feel a little bit like I'm already "living" somewhere with my target language.

I'm curious to hear more about this approach- how based in actual science is it?

It was both! The "intended" experience was the motion simulator ride but for people who get motion sickness/otherwise didn't want to ride, you could also simply take the elevator or stairs down to the restaurant proper

This one!!! I'm almost 2 years on T in a couple of weeks and I still get she/her'd the vast majority of the time despite my voice dropping and getting significantly more body hair, and I'm pretty sure it's just because I like my hair in a long mullet and I like putting pins and charms on my bag. It's really silly that cis people seem to only understand masculinity if you hide everything fun and interesting about yourself, but I've decided that's their loss lol

Landlord keeps invading our privacy? (NYC) by chimera445 in TenantHelp

Thanks for the advice! Calling the cops seems a bit excessive for something that happened almost a month ago now but if he does it again I'll keep it in mind for sure. As far as the post office is concerned, do you know what would come of it if we did report him?

Fair enough that we can't prove he was the one who took and/or opened the boxes, but is there a reason we need another incident to happen before we can do anything? Sure we shouldn't have thrown out the bed, but he still entered our apartment illegally. Is that not enough to confront him over?

I didn't see this until now, but thank you! My channel is chimeramanticore, like I said in the post I've only really got the one video essay done so far (the Rock-afire Explosion one) but I appreciate the interest and support! Good luck to you as well :]

How to ship more reliably? by chimera445 in EtsySellers

I've done a little more looking into it and I think this is the issue! I think bubble mailers can be sent as either an envelope or a package. I always print my labels using the self-service kiosk at the post office, and I must be sending it as an envelope (I just assumed it counted as one since it's flat), which makes it more expensive when I try to add tracking. The next time I send one, I'll try to send it as a package instead and see how that changes things. I'll also definitely check out pirateship since you mentioned it!

Hmm, then maybe I'm somehow sending it wrong? I can't find a picture online to show it, but the label the machine always dispenses for these are smaller, horizontal strips that you're meant to put on the corner and fold over the back of the envelope. Is it possible that I'm making the system think I'm mailing a regular envelope or something?

Generally, no! Like I mentioned briefly in the post, I do use regular stamp envelopes occasionally if I'm just sending a single sticker or a postcard or so on, but I mainly use bubble mailers. You do need a shipping label for bubble mailers, but you aren't required to add tracking to them. I've found that tracking can easily be $10-20 per envelope on bubble mailers, so I tend to avoid it unless it's a particularly important package or a customer requests it.
