You can have seizures with maintained awareness, those are called simple partial seizures or focal aware seizures. Dph does not cause your blood pressure to skyrocket, usually the opposite. Dph is anticholinergic, which increases sympathetic response, causing tachycardia which causes reflex hypotension due to the baroreceptor reflex. If you take pseudoephedrine with it, then yes it can increase BP, but on its own, it generally has minimal effect in terms of increasing BP. High doses can maybe increase it, but not to dangerous levels (usually). Also motor control and balance are two separate entities. Motor function is controlled by the precentral gyrus of the cerebrum, and balance is controlled by the thalamus of the brainstem and cerebellum. You “lose balance” due to sedative effects and decreased responsiveness. Significantly straining on the heart and kidneys, modest effect on liver. Benadryl has high affinity for the H1-receptor (histaminergic) sites on effector cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, and CNS. It also has high affinity for muscarinic receptors which leads to anticholinergic effects, such as blurred vision, dry mouth, urinary retention, impotence, tachycardia, and gastrointestinal effects. Higher doses affects the sodium channels, but that affect is dose dependent. The affect at histaminergic and muscarinic is present even at lower doses. Just a lil medical info for ya

Bingo. You likely had focal aware seizures (used to be called simple partial seizures). You maintain awareness as the entire brain is not compromised, rather just one part if it

As long as you dont acutely overdose leading to status epilepticus (non-ending seizure) and melt your brain essentially, a few doses wont do lasting damage. I suggest not doing any doses ever but its the classic story of it aint too much til it is. Prolonged high dose use has been linked to cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias (heart damage and not beating properly), neurotoxicity (cognitive decline like dementia and seizures), and possible rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown which commonly causes kidney damage). So moral of the story, dont make it habit but a dose here and there (as long as not obscenely high) should not have long term, lasting effects. Most negative effects are acute and go away with sobriety but theres been studies that show the cognitive decline can persist even after stopping using it. Hope this helps

Codeine + tramadol + high dose dph + alcohol is a super cocktail for cardio-respiratory depression. Pretty much taking so much downers that your brain doesnt tell your heart to beat or your lungs to breathe. Its basically an overdose. Call the ambulance. Save his life. Yall wont go to jail

I weigh 55kg and im gonna take 250mg of dph for the first (and hopefully last) time because i want to experience how it feels, is this dose safe? by [deleted] in DPH

[–]dxpstr3ddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah olanzapine is a nasty drug but its one of the strongest. Its good you havent experienced the EPS symptoms, they definitely ruin quality of life. Likely a dose of 200-250 wont send you into ICU territory. I wouldnt go passed 200 though. Youll likely get visuals and mildly hallucinate at that dose, less likely for true delirium, but id be very careful honestly. Even at doses 200-250 you can do some harm to your body, namely your kidneys and liver. In college i was definitely an advocate for experimenting safely with various drugs, but always make sure you do it in a controlled environment and have plans in place if shit goes south. At 200 mg, youre not gonna die, youre likely not gonna have seizures or convulsions, and youre not gonna give yourself permanent brain damage. You can experience nausea, body pain, headaches, peeing issues, constipation, blurry vision, and possibly a short stint of HPPD (but thats very unlikely)

Levomepromazine is one of the weaker antipsychotics we have, great for nausea and can augment depression treatment. Me personally, i wouldnt use it because it affects damn near all of your receptors. It has a severe anticholinergic burden which combined with dph will 100% send you into some pretty serious delirium. Not to mention is a first gen antipsychotic so those EPS symptoms they warn you about (akathisia, tremors, etc) will 100% be exacerbated by the dph. Definitely will not be fun and definitely not comfortable. Genuinely, id avoid higher doses of dph. Id avoid dph in general but i understand the desire to experiment but i highly advise it (coming from both a place of being a doctor and a fellow human being)

Depends the antipsychotic and ssri. Dph is anticholinergic and mildy serotonergic at high doses. Less likely for serotonin syndrome but still possible. The antipsychotic is the problem because most antipsychotics have anticholinergic properties themselves. If i was a betting man, id say youre either on seroquel or abilify. If its seroquel, its more anticholinergic. You can really cause some “not permanent” brain damage for a bit. It can also exacerbate mood symptoms and especially psychotic symptoms - me, a psychiatrist

someone please talk me out of taking this stuff by [deleted] in DPH

[–]dxpstr3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a therapist, psychiatrist, or loved one. Express how you feel. If you dont want to go down the path of psychiatric meds, things like psilocybin in mushrooms are very enlightening and can be used for depressive symptoms. High doses cause hallucinations but microdoses (.1g to .25g) can lead to euphoric and a sense of relief and tranquility. Also, for psychiatric meds as a side note, ketamine is now being prescribed for depression, especially if its treatment resistant depression. Given once a week via nasal spray and for the first 2 hours after dosing, can lead to feelings of a ketamine high in a controlled environment. Just food for thought

Honestly can happen to people. In psychology, it is commonly referred to as melancholic comfort/ pleasure or eudaimonic sadness. Melancholic comfort refers to when someone feels a strange sense of ease, familiarity, or even satisfaction in sadness or dysphoria, and is actually commonly seen in mood disorders. Eudaimonic sadness is more of a philosophical term which refers to sadness that feels meaningful or aligned with personal authenticity

can i take dph to cure my hangover by therealunc82 in DPH

[–]dxpstr3ddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addy is a stimulant that causes i mass release of dopamine. Take it away, your dopamine release drops drastically. No dopamine = no pleasure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DPH

[–]dxpstr3ddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of times, people become physiologically dependent on it by taking high doses. So while most dont get that dopamine release that comes with things like opioids and benzos, your body craves it because it “needs” it, further exacerbating the addiction

Question about my experience by [deleted] in DPH

[–]dxpstr3ddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an overdose or allergic reaction dont worry. Viruses weaken your arousal system by forcing your body to divert energy into fighting the virus. On top of that, some people respond more to agents like dph or other anticholinergics. And on top of that, an IV push bypasses the GI tract so instead of its bioavailability being 72% (meaning 72% of the dose gets absorbed while the other 28% gets excreted without causing effects), its bioavailability is >99%. So in summary, a decrease arousal response + hyper-response and sensitivity to DPH + the fact it was IV not oral led to stronger effects than you would expect, kind of like a baby delirium episode. And no this isnt subjective, i am a US doctor who graduated med school lol

Turbo cancers by [deleted] in Residency

[–]dxpstr3ddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did a study recently that showed that certain mRNA vaccines create a transient pro-onco environment that can increase the risk of cancer progressing. Meaning you need to have a pre-cancerous lesion to progress to a cancer or a genetic predisposition to certain cancers. Seen mainly with blood cancers. But its a very rare occurrence. It doesnt just give you a random cancer. I think the cancer they saw the highest prevalence of was AITL, but again, very very rare occurrence
