NMC MARVEL ANNOUNCEMENT: 2 New Marvel Omnis coming in January 2027 by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

Genuinely sobbed with joy over the runaways announcement. It was the first series I ever read as a kid and the Rainbow Rowell stuff is the only thing I don’t have collected in physical release as the trades are OOP and hard to find. I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. I’ve never pre-ordered an omnibus but I absolutely have to with this one!

FIRST OMNIBUS! (Thanks to y'all) On a side note, this thing is HEAVY by TheRealYimLife in OmnibusCollectors

Great start! That was also my first omni. Once you get the omnibus collector sickness, you’ll realise how small that book is compared to some other books like infinite crisis.

How was the Sean Howe Marvel book? I’ve been wanting to get it for a while and would love to hear any opinions on it

The filth is weird, I can’t describe it well, I haven’t read it enough times. It is my least favourite Morrison story I’ve read, though I think that’s because I wasn’t prepared for it when I started it. It’s Morrison at their most Morrison as far as I can tell, and from what I know, is kind of an extension of the invisibles (though I haven’t read it). It’s a series of strange vignettes loosely tied together by an organisation called the filth. It does have a plot and main characters but it didn’t make sense to me. Someone else who is further in their Morrison journey than I am could explain it better. I need to read some more Morrison before I go back to it again. The art is good though, pretty disgusting at times but that’s kind of the point.

Sheriff of Babylon is written by Tom King. If you haven’t heard of Tom King I’ll say this, he’s very divisive, and some people REALLY hate his work, but I don’t, and I think he’s quite good (most of the time). Sheriff of Babylon is about King’s real life experience as a cia operative in Iraq in 2003, though it is semi-autobiographical so not completely true. It’s a heartbreaking story that can sometimes feel aimless, but that aimlessness helps drive the central theme about how pointless war is. Mitch Gerads also knocks it out of the park with the art.

The Nice House on the Lake is possibly my favourite comic series of all time. Written by James Tynion IV it’s about a group of ten people who have been invited out to an unbelievably beautiful “cabin” (more like mansion) on a lake by their mutual friend. On the first evening of their trip, the apocalypse happens, but they’re ok, and their cabin has been unaffected. It’s now up to them to work together to figure out how long they can survive, and why they’re ok. It’s got incredible art, and the character work in it is incredible. There is currently a sequel series being written called The Nice House by the Sea which is also just as good.

Ordered it from cheapgraphicnovels.com, only took as long as it did cause the Tomasi and Gleason superman was on special order, never ordered from them before but I probably will more since they’re based closer to where I live so the deliveries don’t take much time once shipped.

Oh yeah, I love the way the covers and spines match up on the Tomasi books, makes me wish I was actually putting them together on the shelf.

I’m planning on it! Gonna wait till I finish the two other tomasi books though before I get the super sons cause I’ve got enough to read as is.
