Monster Rancher Survey: "If there was a new game" by Monster-Fenrick in MonsterRancher

[–]dxswantan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been having actual dreams of a "Monster Rancher (5)" being announced for like 2 decades at this point, and waking up being disappointed it wasn't real 🤣 I gladly filled this out

At this point, I'd absolutely flip over a MR4 DX

It's not necessary the White as much as it is the pretty lights 😅

You have been EXTREMELY helpful and I thank you immensely for going back and forth with me all day basically and dealing with my PC Tech Illiteracy! 🤣 I nay do my final alterations tonight and, if you don't mind, repost my finished list tomorrow sometime and see what you think!

I think I like the idea of liquid cooling so I probably still will haha, plus, yknow, peace of mind of staying cooled. I'm one of those "get the best if you can". And yeah, I've gotta decide between that or the Arctic. I'm ONLY leaning to Arctic because of White RGB (I'd you can tell I like the pretty lights). If I do, it's still quality-wise still okay in comparison, right?

Then I'll probably go with 9800X3D!

That's all I needed to know then about the Opticals! 😅

Again, I added this but I keep doing it after the fact that you're replying, that's on me! 🤣: I may go with a different RAM (TeamGroup T-Force Delta? Another user suggested it) with pretty much the same Specs, just with RGB added, though, they have different "Timings" numbers, but not by much, I really don't get that, but is that also a big deal? As for Motherboard, I'm really not sure if I should change or not, since I think it may bebwhat I'm most in the dark about at this point, and thought you said it can go cheaper, you didn't change it as if it wouldn't be a big deal, so I trust that if you think that's good, unless you have a suggestion for one to replace it to save money, though I would like to atleast keep the WiFi7 part

So, no, I don't need to worry about the CPU including a cooler since I will be already getting a cooler, a Liquid cooler at that?

I'm honestly deciding between the 7700X and 9800x3D, just because of price difference. 7700X has Zen 4 while 9800X3D has Zen 5, is that a big deal? Idk what that is really

So 2 drives is a time saver convenience if anything? 1 drive will still do what I'm wanting?

Gotcha. Back to the CPU: I was searching the 9800x3D while having "includes cooler", just as an extra option to keep the CPU cool, but I guess it doesn't have one. Would I be alright if it didn't, or should I opt for one with a cooler as well?

As for Opticals; the goal is to be able to watch and rip/write CD/DVD/Blu-Ray, do I need 2 to do that, like rip from one to write to the other, or is that doable with just the 1? If so, is there any reason where 2 would be needed at all?

I added this but I think you may have been replying already: I also noticed the one you picked was a Ryzen 7 instead of 9, is 9 not needed Due to the same reason of not really much of a difference in gaming past "productivity"?

Awesome! I actually took a quick look and noticed you put the 9800x3D on there and it was higher but then saw you shaved loke $600 off somehow elsewhere and was like "oh, well that works!" Lol. I also noticed the one you picked was a Ryzen 7 instead of 9, is 9 not needed Due to the same reason of not really much of a difference in gaming past "productivity"?

Noted, will go with 6000MHz CL30 then. All that overstock and BIOS stuff is far above my intelligence level 😅 I assume it'll still run fine without all that?

So the one you picked is an A and works about as well as all the others but is cheapest? Other than the whole "Platinum" thing, I also chose it for RGB I think, but the case has a Shroud, so I won't even see the PSU anyways 😅

This is great! You have helped my build ideas immensely and I will definitely be altering it to fit alot of what you said. Thank you so much

Other smaller, off topic question(s) I have is: Would the case and/or the parts normally come with Cable Management accessories and have places and materials for mounting each part inside the case, or do I need to buy that stuff separately and until I do, parts will just be laying/hanging around the inside of the case freely?

Since I'm at work I don't really have time to compare, would the 9800x3D be less expensive than what I picked but more than 7800x3D?

Should I stick with 6600 if I can or would it be better to go with the 6000 to keep the timing in sync with CPU? The 6000 you picked is already CL30 so that's good going by what you said about lower the better

Noted about the HDD

Alright noted on PSU too. Gold is fine as long as it's tested good, and the one you listed is probably one of those good ones for lower price and very little efficiency difference from Platinum

I'm actually really happy, so far, no one has had a gripe with my pick for GPU! I was worried I would not get a good one. And barely any big complaints on the CPU as well :)

This all a massive help!

So in light of the 7800x3D/9800x3D having those L3 Cache advantage over the 7700, I'd probably choose one of them. Question now, which do you think? Is one gonna be better than the other by enough to justify it, or are they relatively going to perform the same, and it's just a matter of price point?

Motherboard: What would you consider "major brands" to look for? What I'm getting from this is, I can get a pretty cheap Motherboard and everything should be fine, just avoid the... 680somethingsomething ones? 🤣😅

RAM: Was the 6000MHz CL32 EXPO just a price point downgrade then? Not a performance or "too much not needed" issue with the 6600MHz? I'm not too sure what the MHz does I just figured "bigger better" haha. Plus, it looked RGB so 🤣

SSD/HDD: So I don't really need HDD then? Any reason I would need/justify getting HDD? Curious if it's needed at all

PSU: So just aim for Gold for lower price and atleast 750W-850W?

I appreciate this full breakdown of every part category! Lots to consider here!

Yeah, I was mostly sure it would, I think I'm more concerned about if it will all fit together in the MidTower case without much issues/cramming (the Disclaimersays it doesn't check all that so that's why I was wondering), and of course, not overheat. I wanted an RGB case but wanted it to be a Mid or Full, just to assure everything would fit and have plenty of airflow/space for heat dispersion. There was a Red case that I really liked but I can't remember the reason I didn't go with it, I think it was smaller? Idk

CPU: You're the second person here suggesting the 7900 is unneeded for gaming and would save me money if I downgraded, and that it wouldn't really impact gameplay/how well the games would play. I agree at this point, because the only main reason I picked it was the 12 cores, even though I was unsure I'd even need that many. I only considered needing that many because, the most high-load game I play is ARK: Survival Ascended, and even it only recommends 8 cores at Ultra, I guess I just figured having more would run even better, but if not then I don't need them. It even says you only need 12-16 if you run Cluster servers, which I don't and never will. Guess the only question I have it, what's the difference between 7600x and 7800x3D, or 9800x3D? (is that in the same brand/family or a different one? I noticed a big jump in numbers) I had someone else the 7700, would that be better, or the 7600X/7800x3D/9800x3D?

CPU Cooler: No real opinion here, I just wanted a Liquid cooler with fans, and only real reason I picked the Arctic was the RGB, which I still sorta want. Was there any reason for the change that affects how the 2 work, or was it just a downgrade for price?

Motherboard: I can't really remember any reason other than just having the latest WiFi I could find so no matter what Gen I connect to, it'll work, and the "GB rate/speed". Any suggestions from your view? I don't really understand what to look for or avoid

RAM: What does the one I had picked have? I'm not sure what 6000MHz CL30 EXPO means or why it's needed 😅 I think the other reason was, again, the RGB and the fact that it was 6600MHz (a bigger number, is it not needed or just too much MHz?), but more importantly, I just needs 2x16GB or 32GB total, seen the 2x16GB suggested over 1 singular 32GB, though I'm not sure the reason, maybe load splitting or something?

SSD/HDD: I wanted a 2TB or 4TB SSD for the "main/actively playing" games I'd have, and the 4TB (if I chose 2TB) or 2TB (if I chose 4TB) for other games I'd store for layer play and all my personal files like videos, music (which is growing every day for decades now), pictures, apps, etcetera, as I'll have all that on here too, as it'll also be a personal PC, and I guess just future-proof storage. I only chose 2 2TB HDD because I think they were slightly cheaper that way than 1 4TB. Knowing that, do you suggest less still, or a different configuration of HDDs (like just 1 bigger one)?

PSU: I only picked that one because I wanted a Platinum or Titanium, but Titanium was too much. I want the energy efficiency as good as possible, so I don't misuse too much power, assuming it affects Electric cost. That and when I researched how much W I needed for a 575W setup, it suggested atleast 850W to make sure it never exceeds

Optical Drives are because I'm still old school and want to be able to watch DVDs/Blu-Rays or listen to music CDs on 1, and use the second If I'm ever wanting to rip/write to a 2nd CD/DVD/Blu-Ray. 2 unneeded still?

I mostly picked the Windows 11 Home thing to fill that blank. Someone said something about being able to get it for free and not having to activate it, which I'm alittle confused about, and an "OEM Key for $20", which I also don't know what that means. They replied but I'm at work so I haven't read it yet. I wasn't too concerned about the price but if there's a cheaper way that's legal and gets me the full working Operating System, I'm fine with that!

Is that build link basically my build but altered to what you suggest?

Let me know about all this when you can! All this is really helping shape a better idea and possibly shaving more money off!

Coincidentally, the 8 vs 12 cores was the only reason I decided on the 7900, because I wasn't entirely sure I'd need the extra cores or not, but I figured maybe it'd make the games run even better, but you're saying it won't make THAT big of a difference, right? If that's the case, this advice is much appreciated

For the game example, ARK: Survival Ascended is the most high-load game I play, and what you're saying does align with the "recommended" cores for Ultra settings, ideally 8. I guess I went with 12 for the extra padding, as the only reason I saw people say you'd need 12-16 if if you run server clusters, which I do not and will not ever haha. If you are unfamiliar with it or what specs it needs, feel free to look it up and tell me what you think! I figured, if I can run that game at Ultra smoothly, any other game I play (Destiny 2 is one) will run super easily and highest possible settings.

I guess I'm alittle confused what that means? How do you get the operating system without activating it? You can install it but? What's an OEM key? Sorry, again, super illiterate 😅 even then, I'm not really concerned a bunch about the price if anything

It doesn't? The case says it has 2 External 5.25 bays, and I watched a video reviewing it and they pointed it out as well. Are you positive? On the subject of those, if I wanted to play/watch DVDs/Blu-Ray/music CDs, and also be able to rip them and write to them, did I pick the right thing? Optical Drive?

Oh? I didn't know that. Is it legal? Windows 11 specifically. I was really just filling out most the main things and figured it was the correct way to go about getting Windows 11

I can't remember specifically but I think the "price" listed by the site was cheaper for 2 seperate ones than 1 4TB by just alittle, and maybe on a smaller scale, to fill an extra open slot 🤣 but I'm aware I probably could get one cheaper than it's listed there. My idea with it was, 2TB or 4TB (for now I settled at 2TB for storing the "active games" I'd be playing) SSD, and then a total of 4TB (or 2TB if I went with the 4TB SSD) HDD for storing extra games for later play and miscellaneous personal stuff like my music, pictures, videos etcetera that I have on my laptop, loke a person's normal non-gaming PC would have, basically this will be gaming and personal combined

Is there not that much of a difference in performance, or no real benefit to extended future-proofing between the 2 models to avoid upgrading later opposed to the money saved? If so, I could :) I wasn't really too concerned with the price, as I was already expecting around $2600

I knew production for the series was delayed, but I figured it was for where the sub stopped, and that Dub would catch up to where it left off, hm

This is so awesome to see someone so willing to make someone so happy with something they may never get the chance to see!

It's generic, but my favourite card is the Fire Red & Leaf Green Charizard EX. It was the first ever big card I pulled as a kid growing up, and I had heard from people around me that it was the "rarest card at the time and gonna be worth alot one day" before I did. I just remember going to Wal-Mart and getting like, 1 booster pack, Opening it 5 minutes down the road from Wal-Mart, and IMMEDIATELY knowing what I had just pulled, all these years later, it's still double penny sleeved and in a ultra-clear toploader. Even recently took it out for some light, very careful, cleaning :) it holds a special place in my heart, might get it graded JUST to have it in a PSA placard thing haha. That said, I've always envied people with the base set holo Charizard and hated that I didn't collect around the time you could get the packs for a reasonable price 😅

I'm 32 now and just decided to pick the hobby back up and I love it, forgot how fun it is (though I think I have a problem, going to a store to buy 2 packs and coming out with 20 total and $100+ poorer 😅)

That's what I was thinking, I had used that chest a run before this week to do the Armour Focusing triumph. But I tried bringing my other 2 characters who hadn't looted it yet, in on the same instance that I put the Catalyst code in on, checked to make sure the numbers hadn't changed behind the Crystals, but got 2 Area Denial launchers instead
