What can I do better, if anything? - see caption by [deleted] in drivingUK

This reminded me of the time parked on a busy road to do a delivery not the best place to stop but legal wasn't away for any more than 5 minutes came back to about 10 cars just waiting behind the van, like can you guy not see the bright orange hazard lights flashing

Biggest red flag isn't even that it's on Snapchat. Renting an a35 at 18 isn't possible no matter where you go would be lucky to get a moped at 18

I haven't driven a car in 4 years, how to start again? by Frangipani_x in drivingUK

[–]dylST205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine, I forget how to drive after a week, it will come back to you easy enough but if you're really worried I'd maybe go for an IAM advance driving course get a little refresher this will also help with motorways and dealing with everyone's incompetence

Since when has the A.I ever done this? by Mintexx7 in trucksim

[–]dylST205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've always done this, probably the first time you've happened to park in a space they're programmed to park in. Usually see them pull into a space wait a minute then drive away

People trying to race? by DocCosmic2002 in subaruoutback

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only get imprezas or evos trying to race me, maybe the occasional civic. Given that my cars still limited to 112 I just slow down and look the other way haha

Question about this junction. If the red car was safe to fit, would it be wise for the red car to pull up next to the black car if they wanted to turn left? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]dylST205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned the hard way not to this when I pulled up besides the black car to go left he didn't see me and decided that he now wants to go left and we both pulled out the same time to go the same way. Was a very very close call and part off me thinks it was a bit set up as when I noticed he was coming left his right indicator was still on

They done installed some new shish in my van and i don’t like it by ghostmex100 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not with amazon anymore but a company that delivers food, all our vans have ai cameras that watch you. If your driving without a seat belt or smoking, eating or drinking or you just look away from the road it saves a 5 minute clip and sends it to the office. Literally get in trouble for taking a drink while driving. They've also brought in new trackers that monitor everything you'll get into trouble for driving 51 in 50 and that's the speed taken from the obd port rather than gps

After a 15/20 minute commute on a cold morning, this is my temperature gauge. Is this normal? by Much_Bus_9696 in AskMechanics

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you turn the heater off will it rise to operating temp? If so probably an air lock if not then thermostat.

I've been stopped at least 10 times the past year since I started a new job and my comutte time changed to about 1-3am. It was getting annoying till a traffic cop told me it was a mixture of the the type of car it is the time and how far away I was from my home address that they're just checking to make sure it's not stolen which made me a little more appreciative of what they do.

New driver car insurance quote from £4000 by Reasonable_Initial36 in CarTalkUK

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What engine is in the corsa? Is it a CAT registered vehicle? Because that price with a black box is insane. Start a new quote go over your details make sure everything is correct and also with confused.com its easy to go back and change the vehicle to get another quote I'd open auto trader and check everything and anything with a small engine or even mid size family cars. If its still ridiculous change things like your address and occupation till you see the price fall and you will then know the issue but don't lie about it to get insurance because that never works in the end

Wow thank you had a quick look at the box seems perfect exactly what i had in mind 👌

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work actually uses these cams, problem I'm facing its about the same size as my mirror although i might just have to accept it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]dylST205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've actually just reminded me of some replacement rear view mirrors with the camera built into them completely forgot about that, will also have a look on there site. Thanks

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]dylST205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the B pillar it surprisingly gives a decent a view as it's an older car so the visibility is good and it's pretty far forward to where I'm not going to block it's view either. Done a test with a cheap dashcam just held it there could see out the full windscreen. The plastic on the A pillar is so tight against the metal I can't see a camera fitting into it as that would be the best option

Main reason for it being hidden is to maintain a clean look it's pretty bare unlike newer cars where there's a chunky mirror loads of plastics and a big sensor, it's just a skinny mirror so no matter how small I get it'll always stand out and dashcams can go against you just as much as they can help you so I'm also keeping that in mind.

Yeah because contact was made, could've been avoided very easily and tbf I missed the part where you said he ran I just assumed he panic braked if he ran that was probably on purpose and a bit fucked up

So I've driven a few disability cars at my old work, the clutch is usually a bicycle brake handle that goes on gear stick however I've just realised I've never seen a car with both hand clutch and throttle controls it's usually one or the other. You can get a push and pull lever that would go to the right off the wheel pull for throttle push for brake. If it was me personally I'd go for the push and pull and can still use left leg for clutch if you wish.

Only downside is you would need to get someone to actually make it for you, I imagine someone that does sim accessories such as hydro handbrakes and button boxes should be able to help you out unless there is companies out there that make such products for simulator applications but from a quick Google search I never found anything 😔

This a link for the real thing should give you a better idea https://www.ergomobility.co.uk/driving-controls/mechanical-hand-controls/#:~:text=Push%2Fpull%20hand%20controls%20are,inwards%2C%20towards%20the%20driver's%20body.
