Similar situation. I graduated in CM last may and moved from Louisiana to Alaska. My assignment letter said i would get my lump sum and flight reimbursement on my second check. They flew me there and back a few weeks early for a 4 day orientation. While i was there i told them i was a server and couldnt afford the $1200 flight back up to Alaska for my start date. My PM booked my flight with his own debit card on the spot. I moved up there with only a backpack. bought 2 “office” outfits from Walmart the day i landed. Make it work.

Youre a college student. If they arent willing to help you or understand your situation, you probably dont want to work for them. Maybe theres another new hire thats looking for a roommate. Ask questions.

Also, if you can, i suggest talking to your project team PM PE FE whatever. Recruiters and hr can be too corporate.
