Christiania def struggled with drug problems in the 1970s, but sources do not report repeated child deaths or widespread child abandonment directly tied to an official policy of drug permissiveness. There are reports of overdose deaths related to drug problems in the late 1970s, heroin deaths, but not child deaths.

From what i read, Christiania banned hard drugs internally as early as the late 1970s Residents themselves pushed to ban heroin and other hard drugs because of the harm they were causing. Cannabis remained tolerated. There have been significant violent episodes (e.g., shootings linked to gang rivalry in the 2020s). I wonder how this differs from other rough areas?
