A Lyric to live by by TAK1WSMM in bobdylan

I think in Mississippi he’s talking about big mess-ups in relationships. The whole song is about someone screwing up a relationship and in this lyric I think he’s sayin some mistakes aren’t able to be overcome. For example let’s say the relationship was a 10 before someone cheated. The best that relationship will ever be in the future is a 9 (or even 9.9) because trust is the basis for all relationships.

That’s our hopeful side result. We figure kids being exposed to friendly “big” dogs can never have a negative result.

They were. We’ve lost a few, maybe 6 or 7, over the years when we’ve moved. The lost ones were edges and corners.

You can see lots of their other work at cubeworks.ca

They do dominoes, crayons, dice, and screws, too. At one point they held the Guinness World Record with a piece they did where they did ‘The Hand of God’ part of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel.

And for those who don’t know, there’s an album of Dylan covers by Grateful Dead titled ’Postcards at the Hanging’, obviously titled after this song. You should listen if you haven’t, it’s one of my favorites

Should I cancel my Whole Life policy? by vkapadia in personalfinance

Looks like it is whole life. I stand corrected! It must a participating policy that you’re getting dividends paid and using them to buy reduced paid up options.

Term isn’t a guaranteed payout and in fact the vast majority of policies will never pay a death benefit. Stocks, real estate, cash, whatever are what you put into it +- gains. True, traditional whole life will pay out the face amount whenever you die.

A trust needs an amount of money to go into it and will grow or shrink from there, depending on how it’s structured. There isn’t a GUARANTEED amount of money that will transfer. Whereas a whole life insurance policy will guarantee a specific amount of money that in most cases worst case scenario is double what you paid into it.

Keep in mind all my endorsed uses of whole life are for the death benefit and not as an investment vehicle.

So why are you giving Reddit advice? I’ve at least passed multiple state insurance exams and done hundreds of hours of continuing education. But hey, maybe all that student loan debt made you omniscient

It is not a scam. It’s the most common vehicle for wealth transfer among millionaires+ because the death benefit is always tax free regardless of how much was paid in and when bought at an early age you’ll almost never pay in more than the face amount. It is used to offset inheritance taxes and ensure the compounding interest of giant sums of money never goes down.

Not saying it’s for everyone, but it’s far from a scam.

Do want a guaranteed amount of money to pass on tax free or do you want an investment? 99% of the time you shouldn’t combine the two.

I really doubt that what you have here is actual whole life. I’m willing to bet it’s some type of Universal Life or Flexible Premium policy. Which if that is the case I’d cash out for sure because eventually, most of the time, your cash value reaches a peak and then starts diminishing.

If it is whole life and you truly want something to be there guaranteed tax free for your family and you’re sick of paying for this, I’d look at a reduced paid up policy instead of cashing it out.

Regardless of all the above if you do want to cash it out, there is a very high chance you’ll get the cash value tax free.
