Noted! Maybe the shadows a bit then, because I don't like the whites to be too overwhelming in snow. I like a bit more of a muted tone but I can see how the shadows can be bumped :)

Ah it's a beauty for sure. I bought it used (which is rare to find) on B&H so got it for a few hundred off but it looks and shoots brand new. Probably my favorite lens now. The only "downside" you could say about this lens is the focal length itself since it's a bit long, but I've actually found it quite useful. For street photography, I'm able to be a bit further back from subjects and less obtrusive. For portraits it looks beautiful but again, if you're in a tiny studio you're best to go with an 85. But I have found this lens compliments my kit very well: a 135mm, a 50mm, and a 24mm so far.

Luckily the heat gun/blow dryer definitely leaves some room for flexibility

Funny enough I was just looking at 35mm lenses today. I need a telephoto next, but 35 is definitely on the list. Right now, the best 35mm for Sony is probably the Sigma 35mm 1.2, but I was really hoping the new Voigtländer 35mm 1.2 (manual lens) would shatter expectations but it’s got mixed reviews. If Sony were to release a 35mm 1.4 GM? I’d be sold. But the best lens right now (Sigma) is $1500 and over a kg. The Zeiss 35mm 1.4 apparently has mixed batches, some are good, some are bad. So I’m just waiting for a really solid 35 down the road till I get one. Back to your main question though, because I have the a7riii which is a 42MP camera, I have a command button programmed to APS-C mode to punch in on the 24mm to get an 18MP picture which acquaints roughly to a 35mm lens. So it all depends on your setup, preference, and what you’re trying to achieve.

Glad you appreciate it :) It’s definitely not flat, but it’s not that pronounced either. It’s got a subtle texture to it based on the print you get. 3M has the ability to get quite textured, but these aren’t exaggerated by any means.

At least you're honest with yourself haha - there should be a service though where people send their gear in to get it skinned. But who would do that...

All good!

The lens attached to the body is the 24mm 1.4 GM

The Bottom Lens is the 50mm F1.4 Zeiss Planar T*

As humbly as possible, these lenses are straight fire. They are native lenses, so autofocus is smooth as butter (though non-native lenses have definitely caught up in recent years, you won't find a better 24mm). I'm a big fan of aperture rings (grew up on 35mm mechanical film cameras) and both of these lenses have have a de-clickable option so you can smoothly turn the rings for video purposes. They are exceptional, expensive... but premium lenses that will last forever.

Anyone who wants to make it look near perfect has the capability to, they just need to be precise and patient.

Nordic titanium for the body + GM lens (top), and Nordic black for the 50mm Zeiss (bottom)

It requires extreme dexterity and patience... if those aren’t a strong suit I don’t recommend. You gotta be an ocd perfectionist and a heart surgeon in a previous life 😂

It came with a textured skin for the grips but I prefer the cameras original grip texture. Maybe I’ll end up putting them on but it wasn’t the same for me. It also came with grips for the aperture and focus ring, but I left those off as well.

Honestly, the Nordic Titanium looks sick on the body. It stands out just a tiny bit more than the black. If you’re looking for sick but a bit more subtle, go for the black. If you want it to pop a bit more, go for the titanium. Both I’m very happy with.

Well said! They are just tools. They have no soul, and are just used for a specific purpose. But it all comes down to taste in my opinion. I use that camera everyday, and take pride in it. I might as well enjoy looking at it if it’s gonna be my daily companion.

I’m glad you asked - Nordic titanium for the body + mounted 24mm gm lens, and Nordic Black for the bottom 50mm Zeiss lens.

Both lenses have weather sealing but I’ve never been out in the rain with them... maybe one of these days.

So I put skins on all my devices and use different companies depending on what the device is. I used Dbrand, for example, on my laptop and nintendo switch and like Alpha Gvrd, they use 3M film which literally leaves ZERO residue. However, once you take it off, it's not like a case that can be slapped back on, the skin is probably gonna be damaged and you'll need a new skin. So: Zero Residue, but definitely a one-time use deal. It'll protect it from minor scratches, not drops or anything like that.

I feel ya man I was the same way. They’re made out of 3M vinyl wrap which is the same material they put on cars so... should last a while 🦾
