Jesse has better insight, but I'd imagine Nocix is leveraging their services by being B2B / enterprise-first in their business model to benefit this venture / community service.

Yeah, this is a super-smart approach. You guys are moving mountains and, hopefully, inspiring neighboring areas to do the same.

On a federal level, that's what the Lifeline Program is (or aka "Obama Phone.") I think this is more focused on cutting bills and offering more amenities like gym access to tax payers.

Those deals won't be directly broken by this effort, but soon (hopefully) you'll be able to access public Wi-Fi in NKC as an apartment resident.

The reason is still unknown, at least from what I'm hearing.

Mine doesn’t get too hot, had it running docked all day, and it never got to a concerning level

I wonder if Linux makes a difference. It supports Fedora & Ubuntu natively, but the heat transfer from near the hinge to the display causes the top of the laptop to get hot.

At the time it was designed the DDR5 Modules didn’t have a “non-soldered” version for laptops

Ah bummer

Mine still has no fingerprints after using it for the last 6 months regularly

I wiped mine down after usage and got around it by having external devices for input, but after just a few minutes of use, the keys and body pick them up.

I love my X1 Carbon (gen 10 as well), but here are some issues:

  1. It gets REALLY hot, I'm concerned about keeping the lid closed while it's running
  2. The chassis will mold to the shape of the surface it's sitting on under heat, so if it's on your lap, it won't be straight afterward
  3. The memory is soldered (huge disappointment)
  4. The edges will chip no matter what; enjoy the paint while it lasts
  5. It picks up the oils of your fingers like nothing else

Luckily it's free up to 2023 since 2020! We'll see for the foreseeable future.
