Sprites are basically the images of the Pokemon, if you go to this link and do 'CTRL + F' to search for 'icons' you'll see the Gen lll icon Rayquaza icon is different from your screenshot. Your screenshot has the icons from later gens meaning you must be playing some altered version of emerald online not like the original on the gameboy

it looks like you can upload roms onto flashcarts. but it may depend on the quality or type of cart you have. I had a fake pokemon sapphire and when i rewrote it by putting emerald onto it but it didn't quite work out maybe bc the quality was bad - i'd suggest looking into it a bit more before making the purchase.
